I had some issues a while back with the version of Installshield that was used with the Control Manager software. It apparently didn't like my dual boot setup and wouldn't allow my to install CM on both systems. It installed Ok on one system but I could never get it to work on the second one. Michael told me that it was due to the version of Installshield that was being used and that a different installer was being considered for the next version. So, I'd like to know if the latest version of CM uses a different installer or not?

No. The install hasn't really changed, just the files. There is a new installer in the works, hopefully it will come along with CM4. I dual-boot here without any trouble, though. Offhand, I can't think of any way they'd collide except in the \Program Files\CH Products\Control Manager folder. Could you tell if that was what seemed to be the problem?

The install worked fine on the first system I installed it on and continued to be fine but when I tried to install it on the second system, the install would proceed until the very last step and then crash. So, it wouldn't work and it apparently crashed just before creating an uninstall file so I couldn't uninstall it either. Michael and I went back and forth with this for a while about 3 months ago. If I remember correctly, you sent me a step by step installer to find out the exact step that it crashed on. The last I remember, Michael informed me that it was due to the Installshield version used and if CH upgraded it, it wouldn't be a problem anymore. As I understand it, that's a rather expensive propostion so I certainly don't expect CH would make the switch just for me (as I seem to be the only person with this problem). Just wondering when the new version is going to be released.

Yeah, I recall that now. I'm guessing you've got both boots using a common \Program Files folder and it wouldn't create the uninst file because the one from the first system was already there. When the new installer will be done isn't really set, there are a couple of issues that need to dealt with and CM4 itself doesn't really have a target date. I would think that it would mainly be a matter of getting the first install out of the way somehow while you do the second. I've got a couple of ideas on how that might be done. I'd rather not do it out here, though. If you want to fiddle with it, drop me an email and maybe we can work something out.
