This is my first post to this forum. As such, please be gentle :o .

As mentioned in the general forum (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=800), I have an FS2004 map that I've been using for some time. I just got done commenting the various axes and buttons. Not all of them are used - my goal is not to use every control, but to fly the sim with a minimal amount of keyboard touches.

NOTE - and this is important - you will need to also make these axis/button control mods to FS2004's configuration manually. You will theoretically only need to do this once, were it not for the fact that FS2004 will rebuild the .cfg file if it terminates abnormally - but then all of those assignments are lost.

Therefore, once you have made your axis/keyboard assignments - BACK UP YOUR FS9.CFG. This file is, at least in WinXP, found in your user profile area. E.g.

C:\Documents and Settings\Aceflyer\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

That FS9.cfg file contains sections for each of your gaming controllers; this looks something (not exactly) like this:

[JOYSTICK_MAIN {21DE7EE0-D42F-11D7-8001-444553540000}]
AXIS_EVENT_00=AXIS_AILERONS_SET
AXIS_SCALE_00=64
AXIS_NULL_00=36
AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_ELEVATOR_SET
AXIS_SCALE_01=64

POV_MOVE_REPEAT_00=1
[JOYSTICK_SLEW {21DE7EE0-D42F-11D7-8001-444553540000}]
AXIS_EVENT_00=AXIS_SLEW_SIDEWAYS_SET
AXIS_SCALE_00=64
AXIS_NULL_00=36
AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_SLEW_AHEAD_SET
AXIS_SCALE_01=64
AXIS_NULL_01=36
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_00=SLEW_RESET
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_01=VIEW_MODE
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_02=SLEW_ALTIT_PLUS
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_03=SLEW_ALTIT_MINUS
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_04=SLEW_PITCH_PLUS
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_05=SLEW_PITCH_MINUS
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_06=SLEW_BANK_MINUS
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_07=SLEW_BANK_PLUS
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_08=SLEW_FREEZE
BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_09=SLEW_RESET
POV_MOVE_EVENT_00=PAN_VIEW
POV_MOVE_REPEAT_00=1

There is one of these sections per Gaming Controller device, so if you have CH stick/throttle/pedals you'll have three such sections. It is beyond the scope of this post to explain just how to hack this file in case you lose your settings (other than copying your old FS9.cfg.backup to the current one), but... hopefully it's a starting point.

I'm attaching the .map file - I'm not sure if the .cms file is also required (and I could not figure out how to attach both files).

Let me know if you have problems,
