Is there a way to load a controller MAP from a desktop shortcut (double click)which references the xxxxxxx.map file? If not, this would be a nice feature for the next version of Control Manager.
Second, in the next version of Control Manager will there be a function to automatically load up the last used/currently loaded MAP file for editing without having to open the file manually every time the software fires up?
Thanks,
Fever

Not exactly automatic, but if you double-click the box in the tool bar that shows you the names of the file you're editing and the last downloaded file, it will load that one for editing without having to go through the file dialogs, etc.

CHStart? Are you looking for something to load your last downloaded map when you double click a desktop icon? Because that's CHStart and it is already there.

It's actually CMStart.exe now, not CHStart.exe. I gave CHStart to the OEM Mapper when we started using different drivers because it looked like we might have to handle them differently at startup. Right now both programs do the same thing so it doesn't really matter, but the one that comes in the CM install is CMStart.exe.
For others that may be watching, it's in the Control Manager folder, usually:
\Program Files\CH Products\Control Manager
It basically does what Spidey said, pushes the Mapped Mode button to reactivate the map (it's already downloaded, it's just not enabled) but you don't have to run the GUI to do it. I've got CMStop.exe too, which effectively pushes the Direct Mode button and stops the map. If anyone is interested, I'll stick it in the next install too.

Let me clarify :). I'm looking for a autoload option so all i have to do is double click on a desktop shortcut icon of a MAP file for a particular game. I used to do this with the old PTW files. I had a row of icons to launch the games i wanted to play and a row of icons for the individual controller maps (PTW back then) right below. It was real easy to switch maps and play a different game right from the desktop with only 2 double clicks (one for PTW file, one to launch game). That make sense?
Of course, an even better option would be to autodectect what program has been launched and automatically load the correct MAP file. This function is similar to what Rage3D tweeker does when you launch a game, it changes the video card AA and AF settings depending on what EXE you double clicked on.... all in the background...after you intitially set it up of course :).
Game Commander 2 does this too..... for those that know what that is.
I already use the CMstart function... and thanks for the info on the double click thing in the last map used window in CM3.

Yes, I knew what you meant. I guess nobody did really answer your question, though. Sorry about that. Anyway, no, there's no provision for that at the moment. There's already a request for it on the "Control Manager features you'd like to see" thread, "Ding" looking for command line utilities is essentially what you want to do, too, but you might add your own vote for it over there.

CMStop.exe sounds cool. Can't believe I didn't catch the name change from CH to CM. I tried the CMStart before I wrote the post. As usual some one was asleep at the helm. ;)
Bob is right of course (can't think of when he wasn't <s> ) you can't get CMStart to load any map other than the last one downloaded. But that feature (or lack there of) has not gone unnoticed. B)

I'll tidy it up a little and send a copy along for you to play with. I used it quite a bit when I was debugging the CMS scripting, it was great for shutting down a map that had gone astray without having to get the GUI up and running. Anyway, it's an easy deal to throw it into the install along with CMStart. I'll put it in on the next go-round.

LOL that would have been so helpful in my first faltering steps into cms scripting when the damn thing would just go round in a loop :)
