I just hooked up my new FighterStick and Pro Throttle. I've got a question about the POV hat switch on the throttle; the switch output seems to be 90 degrees out of register. By that in the test mode pushing up triggers the 3 o'clock arrow, right is 6 o'clock and so on. The POV on the stick operates normally. Is this normal or is it assembled wrong?

Scooch a little closer and I will tell you a story...............

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, the Pro Throttle was first designed. The then reigning product dev team thought that UP on the POV in the game should be forward physically on the Pro Throttle. There were a few heated discussions with terms like "muscle memory" from the engineers and questions like "are you high?" coming from the gamers here ;) .

As you can tell in the end the gamer’s lack of people skills (notice I am getting better B) ) meant the Throttle would be released with ALL of the HATS, Buttons, and yes the Mini-Joystick rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

After the Throttles started to go far and wide people started to call and ask CH.. "are you high?" or something like that, I can't remember. So With the Help of Bob "we're not worthy" Church we started to change the way the Pro Throttle's reported in Windows.

If you "add" the Pro Throttle to a map and then remove the "Use as POV" check mark and then push on the POV (or any of the HAT's when viewing them). You will see that Up is Up and the other directions sort of stick to that trend. B)

The calibration however still shows the way the Throttle is hard coded with the POV. Normally this is not a problem as most people do not use the POV on the Throttle as a POV. But for those lucky few that do they get to pretend they are using a POV on joystick that has fallen over on its right side... muscle memory.

Truth be told the work around for those of you that want to use the POV on your throttle... and oddly enough want UP to mean UP you can program it to emulate the keystrokes for your games Pan View commands. Thank God for CMC files. Did I mention that the largest collection of CMC files in the free world is located HERE at the Hangar? :w00t:

Long Story Short.... your fine it was designed that way.

Ok who got the literary reference? :)

Hey Michael
Do you meen I can set my old game port pro-throttle's switch that look like the CH Fighter stick's POV switch, to act like the stick POV switch with all the 8way views?
Man... that's my old dream...
Get a little clooser and let me tell you a story...
It was in the Warbirds 99 con, in Palm Spring, when I met a nice CH Product man and after a while I told him about my dream of getting a 8way POV swich on my throttle.
Now... come a little clooser and listen to what the man said.
He told me I can take out the CH Fighter stick POV Hat and replace him with the Pro Trottle Hat because they are the same switches.
I never tryed to do it but I kept dreaming about it.
So... is there a way to get a 8 way hat switch on my game port pro-throttle?
thanks

The Hat's on the game port Pro Throttle are pretty much the same as the game port Fighterstick. The issue is there are four switches, not eight in the POV. The POV case on the Fighterstick has a special shaft opening that allows you to press more than one button at a time. I.E. you can press Up and Right at the same time. But it is then up to the drivers to se this combination and know that it means Up-Right, and our game port drivers don't. :(

SpeedKeys could do this but I think it is only looking for this capabiltiy from the Fighterstick and not the Pro Throttle. But you might get it to work, it's just that I have not had a machine that ran SpeedKeys for quite a while and all of this is from memory.

Sorry Brother :(
