Hi All,
I want to add more CMC commannds to Spidey's LOMAC key map, however I am having difficulty. Firstly, I enter the CMC tab and click on the relevant area to place the new command. I write a description(in blue) and then record the key presses that will enable this command. I then copy this text file and place it into the main GUI which corresponds to the button press. When I go to download this map it comes up with "unable to successfully load this map..download not completed". Is there something I am missing here. Should you clear the previous function that was assigned to the button in the GUI, before you insert the new command?? Most of the time I modify the CMC it comes up with this error. I am pretty sure it is what I am doing thats causing this problem. Any help in the Addition/modifying of the CMC tab would be much appriecated. The reason why I am editing Spideys origianl map is that it was created for the LOMAC demo. Any chance you may have an updated map for the complete LOMAC version Spidey?? If not, I will keep plugging away at it. :drunk:

It sounds like you're basically doing what you should except for the part about copying the text file, I'm not sure what you mean there exactly. You should set the CMC file up as a command name (can't have spaces) followed by at least one space or tab, followed by the definition string:

CommandName c o m m a n d

The "CommandName" part should end up blue, the rest should be red. In the GUI, you just put "CommandName in the Normal or Shifted press or release boxes. When activated, it would send "command". You wouldn't try to put the whole text file in the box, nor should you really need to copy it anywhere.

Normally you do clear the previous command, but it's not a requirement. You can mix the CMC commands with characters or other CMC commands. You could program a button to send "CommandName SPC CommandName" for example and it would send "command command" when it was pressed (using the above definition).

Does that help?

Thx Bob,
Yes that did help. I was copying the text from the CMC file and placing it straight into the GUI Norm and shifted profiles. I stumbled across what I was doing wrong after I posted this message. Good lesson learned on my part ie./ write the CMC command first via CMC tab, then clear the function from the Norm/shifted spaces in the GUI and insert the newly created command via the command list. thanks for your response mate

Yup, that's the best way to do it. You don't have to manually clear the press and release strings if youre right-clicking and picking them from the Command List, though. It will clear whatever is there when you select the new command. The same thing is true with the Keystroke Recorder.

I am completely dumbfounded when it comes to progamming in that script speak. I have only ever owned a Microsoft Precision Pro and Logitech Freedom2.4 J/S, so I am very new to all this. With that said, can someone(in lamens terms) explain what is the advantage of creating scripts over manually entering all commands via a "program button=something happens" style interface. Also, when creating a new map, how do you enable the CMC tab in the CM editor page so you can manually enter new game key bindings. Sorry to rehash on this topic (as I'm sure your about to say read Spidey's burst for first timers), but I find peoples explainations of all this jargon better than what's provided in the help files. Is it possible for a teamspeak/RW conference to take place in the future, whereby one of the experienced script guru's could attend and shed some light on these subjects. I know I would be keen to see what you have to say. Thanks in advance

Sure. There is no advantage at all. If you can do it with what the GUI has to offer, there is no reason at all to write a script. Scripting is there for when you want to do something that you can't accomplish in the GUI. If sending characters or a button presses is all you need to get it done, then the GUI is the way you should do it.

WRT creating the CMC file, Revvin's link should answer that for you.
