Thanks to Revvin for directing me here! Anyone have an IL2 Forgotten Battles, map/profile for a USB CombatStick(568)/ProThrottle/ProPedal combination? I'm totally befuddled by CH Manager!

Thanks,

Willy

You might want to pick up a Base (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=190) map from the Profiles section.

Then grab a IL-2FB CMC file from the CMC section (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72).

Once you have both in your C:\Program Files\CH Products\Control Manager\Maps folder then "Load"ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Load.jpg the map.

Load is the first icon in the Control Manager tool bar....
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Toolbar.jpg

You should now have a listing of the map (or maps) you have in your maps folder. Choose the Base map to begin with by double clicking on it...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Load_Select.jpg

After it opens you should see the controllers in the Control Manager and it is now time to select your CMC file by first clicking on the "Program Settings" tab...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Program_Settings_Tab.jpg

Now that you are in the Program Settings tab click in the "Command File" box...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Program_Settings_CMC.jpg

Now you should see the wicked cool CMC file some caring individual posted B). Double click on it...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_CMC_Select.jpg

The CMC file you selected should now show up in the "Command File" box...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_CMC_Selected.jpg

The fun part is now assigning the buttons to where ever you want on the controllers. But for CMC use and programming your buttons I must send you to this (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=175)thread, go down to the fourth thread and you will see what to do.

Once you have got all of the buttons set to what you like we can talk about any scripting you might want to try. B)

And I can get you a screen shot in IL-2 FB so you can see the minor setup involved in there. Just Axis assignments...trust me it's easy

Willy> Welcome to the hangar, I updated my Fighterstick profile yesterday and uploaded it and have a Combatstick profile 99% done so if you can wait a few more hours until I get home from work I'll finish it off and upload it tonight for you.

Profile completed, you can download a Combatstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals setup for IL-2:FB here (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=239).

That's just awesome! Step by step instructions and everything! (It's like CH Manager for Dummies... like me!)

Thanks a bunch Michael and Revvin!

I'll let you know how it works out when I get home....shhh, I'm at work!

Michael,

This is great!

I followed your step-by-step instructions and now have a better understanding of how to program everything. (I also downloaded and tested REVVIN's map) I think that between the two, I can figure MOST of it out, but I do have one or two questions:

Your Command File looks like it's missing some commands, but I'm not certain. When you go into IL2 FB "Control" panel, the list of key functions is about a mile long! See Image (sorry about the size!):
http://www.photobucket.com/albums/1003/willson/il2_all.jpg

I realize that quite a few of these are handled by sliders/axes, i.e., rudders, ailerons, elevators, etc., but what about things like increase/decrease prop pitch, increase/decrease mixture, engine selection, etc.? Do I program all the functions I can through the Command File process, then add additional functions once I get into the game? (or was that what you were talking about when you mentioned IL2 screenshots?)

I'm at work, so I'm typing this from memory!

Thanks,

Willy

The trouble is with IL-2:FB they left a lot of commands to be mapped by the user, why they did this I don't know but that's why it looks like there are commands missing from Michael's cmc file. What you can do is map the controls you want in IL-2 then open up the cmc file in Control Manager or you can use notepad and add those commands yourself.

Thanks Revvin,

Your map worked just as advertised, though I'd like some of the commands in/on different buttons, so I may just modify it to my tastes.

Is there any trick to editing a Command File? (Spaces in the right place, syntax, etc.)

Glad you found it useful, editing that profile is easy using the cmc file. To add more commands to the cmc file click on the 'CM Editor' button (8th button from the left in the top menu) then click on the 'Command File (CMC)' tab.

In the cmc file you'll see that the commands appear in light blue while the actual game keys appear red. You'll also notice that there are no spaces in the command names, if you want to separate words you have to use an underscore or dash. you only need to have one space after the command name to input the required keypress but some users like Michael prefer to space them out as he has done in that IL-2 cmc file. You'll see the first few commands have strange looking key's next to the command, those keys refer to keys such as the cursor keys (although I've just noticed an small error in Michael's cmc) 'KBDOWN' 'KBLEFT' etc refers to the cursor keys while keys like PageUp are referred to as KBPGUP' etc. A list of these names can be found by opening the help file that was installed with Control Manager, half way down the list you'l lsee a section called 'Control Manager Keycodes'. To save remembering those keycodes you can right click after the command name you typed into your CMC and select 'Record Definition' from the pop up menu and then a window will appear where you can press a key and it will be recorded in that window, you then select 'Exit' and the key press appears next to your chosen command.

To change commands on the profile itself just delete the command that is already there and then right click in the box and select 'Insert Command' and double click on the command you want in the window that pops up. Just remember to save your edited profile and download it and if you think other users might find it useful upload it to the CH Hangar! :)

Michael's updated cmc is now available in the cmc file section, I've also attached it to this post for your convenience just replace the one you have with this one.

Michael and Revvin,

It looks like I have a basic grasp on programming my set-up! I was able to program and download one of my very own, and it works! (I even got an error message and figured out that I had mis-typed a command!) Not bad for a total idiot! I can't thank you guys enough for your assistance! If you're ever in Florida, I'll buy you a beer!

Thanks again,

Willy

PS: I'll keep coming back, especially when I'm ready to tackle scripting!
