Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have a map/ profile for Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance/ Mercenaries for CH FS,PT & PP USB? I have been trying to program my own via CM 3.0, but the MW4 seems to be having issues.

OK,

I found the cmc file for MW4. However there seems to be a problem with the script. When I check the script, I get a mesage...

" Error U5" for the first line in the script! (Turn Left)

Whats up?

Do you get this error when you download? Do you have anything scripted or are you only using the CMC?

Are you putting the CMC into a CMS script?

1. I get an "There was an error compiling the script" message when I try to download.

2. When I check the script I get the following message: "ERROR U5: Unrecognized statement at "Turn_Left"" I am using CMC only!

3. I am putting the CMC into a CMS script.

Bad plan brother, but no problem B) The CMS is for script writing. The CMC is just a file you leave in the "Maps" folder and then select with the "Command File" box under "Program Settings" check out this thread..... CMC (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=238)

I still have the ERROR U5: Unrecognized statement at "Turn_Left" message when I check the script, but it finally downloaded. However when I select a mission the game shuts down and I get the following message...

STOP : Invalid allocation, 0 bytes

D'oh!

I guess I am still on the learning curve. I'll put the "CMC file" where it belongs and try it as described in the link you provided!

Then you don't have an error in the script anymore.

You've got the map set to generate 32 buttons. There's a bug in Mechwarrior 4 that causes it to crash when it encounters a 0-button or a 32-button joystick. Cut the button count to 31 (don't program anything to go to CM Device 1, Button 32) so you don't see more than 31 buttons when you go to the test screen in Mapped Mode and the error will go away. MW4 only recognizes 12 or 14 buttons directly anyway, to get more than that running, you have to fall back to characters.

Here is an "ugly" MW4 Mercs map that I threw together before there was a CMS. :) It works great, though. The map and a graphic depicting the key layout are in the zip file. One note: on the graphic, the underlined functions denote those activated using the shift button.

OK! I just got MW4: Mercs and I am trying to get my FighterstickUSB and ProthrottleUSB to work. I have the CMC and all of my buttons are working great, but now none of my axis are working- nothing I've read or tried has any suggestions to get them to work!

Suggestions welcome

Hi Amsoly,

I suspect that your problem is that you don't have all of your device axes mapped to CM Device 1. If I recall correctly, the MW4 games only recognize a single device. If you select CM Device 1 X/Y Axis for your stick, CM Device 1 R Axis for your rotary pedal axis, and CM Device 1 Z Axis for your throttle axis, you should be all set. If you download the zip above, you can see how I've got the axes set up, even if you don't like the way that the buttons are mapped.

Best regards,

JNOV

Both my throttle (z axis), x, y, and r Axis are all on CM device 1. :(

Any other suggestions?

Edit:
I tried your map as well, and though I love the setup, and all the buttons work fine, its just none of the axis work. Maybe I need to get the latest patch for MW:M?

When you open Windows' game controllers applet, which devices show up? If you've got another controller hooked up (e.g., a steering wheel or something), it may be fouling the works. When you check the game controllers applet, you want CM Device 1 to be the first (and perhaps only) controller listed.

Hi all, I'm new to this site and now getting into gaming. I downloaded the Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance Demo, and I am getting the above Stop error.

I don't understand where to "cut the button count to 31". I am just using a simple USB keyboard and mouse.

help please :(
