Howdy all! I'm very new to the CH crowd (well, not that new, owned a gameport CH Throttle, CombatStick, and Rudders years ago) and just got a FighterStick and ProRudder combo in the mail. Anyways I've loaded all the software, got the contol manager up and running, (by up and running I mean it's there, haven't touched it since install) but the one sim I bought it for, IL2 Forgotten Battles won't work with it. All the plane does is roll it's way into the ground. Now I figure it's probably a messed up stick, but there is the slight chance I just don't know what I'm doing! Anyways any help for this uneducated newbie to CH would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What stick we're you using previously? could it possibly be you've still got the old stick's axis mapped somehwere in IL-2? Also fire up Control Manager 3 and click on the 10th button along the top menu that will take you to the 'Test/Calibrate' section, make sure all your axis are functioning correctly there. To calibrate close the calibration window for a moment then click on the 12th icon in the top menu to switch the stick to 'Off Mode' then go back into the 'Test/Calibration' section and when you select your stick you will see the calibrate button is not greyed out any more and you can follow the prompts to calibrate the stick.

You can also download an IL-2:FB profile to try out here (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3)

I recalibrated again. Am using 2.1 at the moment to see if maybe it was the version of manager that was the problem. Still no luck. I was using a MS SidewinderII with twist rudder. It's not on my system. I think I'll put manager 3.0 back in and remove then add Forgotten Battles (again). Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm still scratching my head but I'm sure it's some simple answer that I'm just not getting.

Ok, I'm getting somewhere. The trim wheels are set correctly. After reinstalling FB, putting in manager 3 I still got no results. Finally I disconnected the rudder pedals and with them disconnecting FB recognized and used the FighterStick just fine! Plug the pedals back in and it's all screwed up again. I have noticed that on the rudder pedals the car-plane switch is not there, looks like a piece of tape is covering a small hole where the switch would be. Still confused. Thanks for your help.

What does the Windows joystick properties say? do the controllers show up and work there ok?

There should be no switch on the rudder pedals, there is a small square moulding around where that switch used to be but there is no hole. Are both devices USB? If so go into Control Manager and try loading up my profile that I linked to above. When you've got it loaded into Control Manager (do not try to download it to the stick yet) highlight the Pro Throttle tab and click on the 'Delete' button (6th button from the left in the top menu) to remove the Pro Throttle from the profile, once you've done that then click on the 'Control Wizard' button (7th from the left in the top menu) which wil lcombine the Fighterstick and Pro Pedals into one virtual device, just click 'OK' to select the default 8 axis 32 button configuration. Download that and give it a whirl, remember to re-map your axis in IL-2:FB and see how that goes.

If that works then great, you can go back into Control Manager later and re-map the buttons to suit your personal taste in layout. Because that profile uses a cmc file that contains all the commands in IL-2:FB just right click on a button and select 'Insert Command' which will then produce a pop up window with the IL-2:FB commands, just double click on the one you want to assign it to that joystick button and you're good to go.

Hey, it's helping!!!! deleted the ProThrottle and now most everything works fine, except the wheel throttle on the FighterStick. It works in calibration, something tells me it has to do with the map I downloaded, no? Anyways if you can steer me but a little farther I think I'll be able to take off on my own! Thanks for all the help you've been Revvin, believe me, it's greatly appreciated, Salute!

If it works in calibration then it should work in the profile, are you sure you have it mapped in IL-2:FB? it should show as 'Z axis ID1' in IL-2:FB if memory serves me correctly. Glad to help, I had the 'Operation Barbarossa Special Edition' and 'Battle over Europe' add-ons arrive today and have the Aces add-on on pre-order :)

Glad you got it sorted, just got back from intercepting a few bombers in a 109E/7. Just Flight (http://justflight.com/en/(31ex52452215y555slr1qb2u)/index.aspx) are the company behind these add-ons. I believe 'Operation Barbarossa was at one time a free download but then snapped up by Just Flight and now sold as an add-on that works in IL-2 or IL-2:FB while 'Battle over Europe' is apparently done by a group of players who helped create missions for IL-2:FB and have worked closely with the 1C:Maddox team. You can find out more the Just Flight web-site linked above, unfortunately they don't seem to offer direct links to each page so you'll have to look under the 'Flight Sim Add Ons' link in the menu on the left side of the site.
