View Full Version : POV Harware Question

I think that there is something wrong with my POV hat on my fighterstick. While moving thru the views or even just looking at one view, sometimes the view will stick at that position. I then have to hit another key (on my throttle) to get it to release. Very much a pain while in the middle of a dogfight ... :o

Also, when I push the hat to the POV/Up Left position, after releasing the hat, it automatically switches to the POV Left view. Not only do I see this in the game, I can also see this action while in the CM.

Do you think that my POT/POV may have lost it ? If so, how does one request or get a new POT/POV ? Are they hard to install ?

Thanks ... Slappy

Are you using a USB hub? What chipset is your USB host controller? Has it just started doing this? Does it do this in Direct Mode?

Are you using a USB hub? YES

What chipset is your USB host controller? I have NO CLUE ... Any recommendations ?

Has it just started doing this? YES ... just within the past couple of weeks.

Does it do this in Direct Mode? Don't know ... I don't know how the POV would work in Direct Mode while playing Aces High, nor do I know how to set it up in Direct Mode for Aces High.

1. I usually don't like USB hubs but Revvin says his rig works fine through his powered hub.

2. You can find your chipset by looking in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section of the Device Manager. Here is a quick guide....
VIA = bad
ALi = bad
SiS = bad
nForce = not good
AMD = not good

Intel = perfect
Opti = good
NEC = good
Lucent = good

3. Go into the Control Manager and then click on the Direct Mode button ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Direct_Mode.jpgto make sure you are not mapping the controllers.

Direct Mode is the 13th icon from the left in the Control Manager's Tool Bar.ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Toolbar.jpg

Then click on the Test/Calibrate button.ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Test-Calibrate.jpg

Test/Calibrate is the 10th icon from the left in the Control Manager's Tool Bar. (see image above, I am lazy)

You will get the controller selection screen...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Test-Calibrate_Select.jpg
NOTE YOUR SCREEN MAY NOT HAVE ALL OF THE COOL PRODUCTS LISTED THAT MY DOES :P

Select the Fighterstick by clicking on it once and then click on the "Okay" button...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Test-Calibrate_Selected.jpg

Now you have the Fighterstick's Test Screen...
ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/Postings/CM_Test-Calibrate_FGTR.jpg

Now when you move the POV hat do you get a response on the POV section...

So does it act funky here?

Michael ... sorry this took so long.

Yes it still acts funky there .. LOL

I have taken all 3 controllers off the USB Hub and have them plugged directly into my PC USB Ports. Motherboard is ASUS P4C800. The views dont seem to stick quite as much now, but still stick occassionally.

Maybe its my programming/setup ... I am attaching a zip file that has my map, cmc, and cms files for you or anybody to peruse.

Thanks for all your help !!!

First, go onto the "Program Settings" page and set the Character Rate parameter up to something like 200. The controls are going to get a little sluggish, but that will slow the characters down and if they're just happening too quickly it may sort it out. The other thing is that split KEYS macros can be tricky since it's possible to release the key before the keys are all done playin out. Try HOLD macros instead and see if that helps. Easy to do, rather than programming:

Press -> KEYS +KP5 +KP8

Release -> KEYS -KP5 -KP8

just program:

Press -> HOLD KP5 KP8

with nothing on the release side. That lets the stick logic take care of pacing the characters out for you.
