I recently (1 month ago) bought a Flightstick USB from RC Simulations in Bristol UK.

It has developed a squeek, or what could even be described as a clunck, when using fine movements around the center point. Very annoying after a while.

It appears to be caused by lateral travel in the pitch roller. i.e., the large plastic tube out of which the joystick arises and that rolls forward/backward, moves slightly to left and right within the joystick base under certain conditions and, I assume, the plastic rubbing makes a noticable noise. It also translates into a few millimeters of movement without any signal being registered (sort of like a deadzone).

My question is; is this a common finding with this stick and within the limits of the manufacture or is this a defect that warrents a replacement? I noted that the box the joystick came in was slightly crumpled and if it had a heavy weight on or blow to it.

Considering how much the stick costs I'm intending to take it back to RC Simulations but I'm interested to know if this is a common problem and not generally considered worthy of a replacement or if this is a definte fault. I'm interested in this information only if I have to argue my case with RC Simulations.

Thanks in advance,

Bottle

P.S. Great stick by the way

I have never seen a gimble loose enough to rattle.

Can you see it bind or move in the case?

Yes, I can see it physically moving by about 1 - 2 mm

Sorry, I don't have access to a digital camera and in any case, it would be some fancy photography to clearly show 1 mm of movement. Really it needs a sound recording and a close-up video.

I think I might as well take the stick to RC Simulations in any case and see what they say. Bob has a lot of experience with CH Products and so should have seen this before if it's common or even rare.

Thanks for your help Michael
