View Full Version : Suggestion for CH FS ministick

Make it shorter. Using the ministick as a Target Designator with the push button as lock is difficult because the stick is too long (What??? a MINI-stick too long??) yep....
I cut a few millimeters off mine and its a flawless TD with lock controller. Now if only LOMAC would support the ministick like F4AF. I can only map the ministick to keystroke in LOMAC, if i use it as TD axis in the LOMAC options control panel, it centers when i let go (centered on or off in CM4). I tried it as a slider, and as axis, both modes center on its own. Keystroke mapping enables the ministick to stay where you put it.
I also uploaded my map profile to the profile section for the F15C in LOFC 1.12a if anyone is interested (once it passes mod approval....).
If anyone knows where to find a blank visual template of the controllers, i can make a reference card.

One thing you can do to solve the TDC problem in LOMAC is to assign your mini-stick axes in CM to mouse axes and then set the mouse axes in LOMAC itself. I also reduced the curve response in CM as it was a little twitchy in game, but everything working sweetly for me.
This will give you non-centering analogue axes. :)
At work so can't check my map but I don't think there was any real tricks to this method, if I forgot anything I'll post again later tonight (Aus time).
Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Scotty. The mouse "pan view" mapped to the ministick is a good way to look around if that is what you're looking for. For those wishing to use the ministick as a mouse view, make sure you have mouse enabled in the configuration files in LOMAC-FC (for those needing further instruction enabling your mouse as a pan view, let me know and i can point you in the right direction.. no pun intended... ).
However, im strictly speaking of using the ministick as a Target Designator Cursor* and lock with the APG-63** as it was meant to be. Unless there is a way to use the mouse as a TD that im not aware of..... in that case, please let me know how to use the mouse as a TD (edit: you did reference the mouse as TDC.... i am highly interested in how to enable the mouse as a TDC in LOMAC-FC)[*1]. Im new to LOMAC and would rather have an axis input for the TD that "stays put" than mapping an axis as a defined keystroke..... if i can enable the mouse as the APG-63 TDC in LOMAC-FC (something i do not know how to do), and then designate my ministick as the mouse in CM4[*2] (something i know how to do), that would be a great help...... Thanks again for the reply... hopefully you can locate the file in LOMAC to enable the mouse as TDC and post the instruction here.... :)
eager for your reply....
*Target Designator Cursor = TDC. Can be written as TD for lazy people like myself

G'day mate, sorry for not being more specific yesterday. :)
You can set up the mouse as TDC by entering the config or input page of the options screen (can't remember the exact name and I'm at work again).
In the top left corner of the screen there's a drop-down box to select which input you wish to modify, eg. keyboard, CH_device_XXX_blah, mouse.
Select the mouse and hit the swtich just to the right of the drop-down box to select axes.
The mouse probably has axis 0,1 and 2 set to horizontal and vertical pan and zoom.
Just clear these and set mouse axis 0, and 1 to TDC horizontal and vertical.
I can't remember if you need to do anything else to turn mouselook off but I don't think so.
Now you just need to fine tune things like adjusting the curve in CM (I found it to be a touch sensitive in the middle of it's range.
There you are! A TDC as it should be.
Cheers mate,

Wow, great idea. I would have never thought of it. Im going to try it out tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.... edit: You did explain it well in your first post, i just had "one too many" at the time i read it.... my comprehension was not functioning at full capacity... :yahoo:
Thanks Revvin. Hopefully someone can get some use out of it. I have learned so much from this site, uploading my first map is the least i can do to give something back.
Thanks Michael. Considering i have owned my CH sticks for about a week, and the same for using CM4, i guess im off to a decent start. One of these days i'll learn script. My User ID is based on Capt Rob. I fly for a living and everyone calls me Capt Rob (a spoof of Capt Ron??). Years ago when i made an aol ID, CaptRob was taken, so i added the extra "t", and it stuck ever since. Im also proud to say i cancelled my aol several years ago....
