Very cool indeed. :)

Does each "base unit" have it's own USB cable? Or do you need a certain number of unit to combine to create a device?

king for a day? :yahoo:
you can serial up to 32 devices, i'd say one plugs into the next... you could even connect a joystick on the end :salute:

heck if you had a four engine sim you could hook up 12 - four throttle, four mix, four pitch :w00t:

So that means each "base unit" is it's own controller with it's own controller ID and what not.

sure,
then you can buy as many units as you want up to 32, two units on the left for and aft like a p-38 lightning, plus one mounted vertically in fronyt for flaps and gear. heck you could also make button units in fours - make it modular and you can configure it multiple ways.

modding computers is BIG Business, look at the popularity of ghost's stuff. ffeedback in a kit maybe? sell different throw levers, different type buttons - a lego kit for simheads

That's alot of USB cables unless each controller is a USB HUB in it's self. But still cool :)

yes each unit is a usb in itself, like the usb mouse that plugs into the usb keyboard, that plugs into the computer usb port; but each unit should have an in and an out port with a short usb connector included. you want only two levers you buy one unit, you want six levers you buy three, etc

when adjacent, unit a connects directly to unit b, unit b to unit c, etc. - daisy chain them

if you buy a three pack of units one long usb cable is included, use standard usb cables so if a user wants to separate units a cable from any store will do.

so minimal cables if they configure it the same as rthe current quad, but more or longer cables the further the units are from each other

If there's one thing I'd like to see added to my Throttle Quadrant after using it since it became available, I'd like to have some LEDs that can be controlled from Control Manager scripts. One LED switchable on/off. OR one LED above each "up/down" switch, so the total number would be six. Maybe they could have more states than just on/off. A Saitek P8000 had a programmable light that could be set green, red or off. If I can remember correctly. Those programmable lights would be handy when the code uses some user definable modes. By switching on a LED, TQ user would know that some mode is on. This would be especially useful when playing games like Lomac that have soooo many commands and all sort of weapon usage modes etc.
