I just bought one of these (http://www.logicsupply.com/product_info.php/products_id/242), and Zorlac from the lockon.ru forums wrote the code for a fully functional touchscreen. Check out this video of it in use (http://www.syn-ack.com/touchbuddy/touchbuddy-preview.zip). It all started here (http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13472). Notice the liberal use of CH products in the picture? I can't help myself. ;) Sorry for the margin busting, it's Zorlac's pic.

Damn!! Thats cool. I am slightly worried however... I just started to download your video there and its called the "Touchbuddy Preview". Sounds kinda dirty and perverse.
..its at 26% right now. I'll let you know how it goes.
and whats the deal with that x-45 on your desk?

It's not mine, it's Zorlac's. But I'll have one at the end of next week. I'm still keeping my Xkeys and my Ergodex. Additionally, I don't own an X45 (anymore). I have a Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals, Throttle Quadrant and I just ordered a DT225 trackball.

I started playing around in Photoshop to make the buttons on the screen look more like the real ones in the planes. Here's a couple of .gif's I made to show their off/on state. From left to right: Su25T, Su27, A10.

You guys need to stop this crap right now!!!! You are costing me money. The only saving grace I have right now is the fact that my Lock On Gold (which installed fine 1.1 out of the box) I cannot get patched to 1.12a. I keep getting ERROR CODE 3. ..whatever the heck that is.
Not trying to hijack thread - just venting - and jealous.

...nope no luck yet. I even tried to patch it with the Webdownload version of the patch - it worked and I did not get the error code but requires a Starforce validation # before I can play.

So I hear... but LOMAC has been calling my name for too long. StarForce is kinda like having your chance with Pam Anderson... She is really hot and all, shes got some big boobies but the whole fact that shes kinda filthy is a downer. I guess it would all depend on how daring or drunk one was before taking the chance.

Do you have the CD version? If so that sounds like a bad disc. Then again it could be a corrupted patch. I recall a couple people having the same problem. Contact Chizh at lockon.ru (PM him) and send them an email describing your problem in as much detail as possible. I've found they are pretty easy to work with to fix an issue.
I have the d/l version of Flaming Cliffs and this is my third computer with Starforce. No difference in performance with or without SF installed. Seems to me that those with the CD version have more problems. I even contacted ED for another serial number as I'd used most of my registrations. Not only did they give me a new key, but when I reinstalled on this computer my original serial number had 12 more activations that in did the time before.

Abomb did, and he calls me every day from Tucson (I'm in Phoenix) to tell me how much he's impressed with it. He's using a generic program ATM, as Zorlac is putting the finishing touches on his.
He got his cuz he paid $30 extra for 2cd day. While I'm not a tightwad I just can't see spending extra money on something I can't hold. So I'll have it Friday or Monday. But, my DT225 should be here tomorrow!!!! (w00t) Then I can make a short vid on how much better it is for the HUD or Radar designators. I'm betting that Debby get's a couple more orders for them. Abomb, KBall and Techno are coming up from Tucson on Saturday, so they can "hands on" my toys.
Still going to set up a weekend long LAN in Tucson (we have 5 squaddies that live there, plus a couple in the 169th) and to visit Pima Air Museum again. So that should be sick!

I bought the trackball to control my radar and HUD cursors. I made a short movie (http://teambsr.com/downloads/dt225.zip) to demonstrate how fantastic it works. Watch how easily I break out the two Su17's in TWS mode in the F15 portion. I never was able to do that very often when using other methods to control the pipper. The Mig clip shows how quickly you can slew the HUD cursor, and how accurate you can be with it. In the A10 clip I track the T80 with the IR Maverick and I don't ground stabilize (lock a point on the ground) the pipper. I follow the tank while flying.
All I can say is that you cannot believe how fantastic this is to have complete cursor control. I can lock enemies online 1-3 seconds faster than before.
My desktop, with out the touchscreen (which I'll have Monday)

Allright, I've been busy tonite. My goal is to get all of the buttons for Zorlac's profile (which is included in the software) done. Here's what I have so far, and I had to do a whole bunch of buttons over again. I won't go into the details but it wasn't too time consuming. It's late so I'll get on this tomorrow and we'll see how far I get. Here's a cool touch, notice the Landing Lights button in the first screen. It looks like there's flash from the camera. There isn't. I started mucking around with the buttons to make them look like a light is behind them.

All right, I'm finally done with my pit. I worked on it all day yesterday, took a break to buy the 27" LCD then crashed about 2 a.m. Woke up at 4:30 a.m. cuz I was ready to start work on it again. I still need to take some windex to it to take all the pencil marks off though. ;) I also need to add a cupholder. Everything is velcroed down and it's a blast to finally fly with my controllers off of the desktop.

It was rough, I had to convince myself that it was ok to stop for a bit. I ate a bagel and cream cheese at 7 a.m. that morning. Lots of ice tea during the day and by 8 or so that evening I had to stop or the neighbors would have heard Skil saw all night long. ;) Had to throw some food in there somewhere, I was getting weak.
Besides, my 22" CRT was too big and heavy to put up there so the pit couldn't be finished until I had something to place there. See, that makes sense doesn't it? At least in my twisted world it does. :D

(As posted on the lockon.ru forum earlier today)
I`ll hopefully be able to release a new version some time next week, with some minor big fixes, and a few new features. Sadly, work has got real busy, and will stay that way for 4-6 weeks, so not sure when I`ll be able to release another version.
The work issue has meant that progress on the "big" modules hasnt progressed as far or as fast as I would like, but I am hoping once this second release is out, I will have less "small" fixes to make, and have more time for the modules.
Anyway, here is the list of things that I have added to v0.0.6.1 (initial public release was v0.0.6)
Known Oddities
==============
rawkeys macro events dont always work with Lockon: Black Shark (beta)
for some reason. In fact, sometimes they didnt work in LO:FC either,
but am convinced that was because rawkey events were being sent too
fast, and the game wasnt "seeing" the events. After I added the delay,
all rawkey events started working in LO:FC (huraah!). As I dont have
access to LO:BS beta, I am unable right now to work out why this is
happenning. Am hoping the "keypress_delay" addition will cure these
problems, but I wont know just yet (unless some nice person at ED
lets me have access for a few days!! Oh go on, it was worth a try!)
done
====
v0.0.6.1
======
- ADD: option in window definition in *.tbc files
allows window to maximize after it has been opened.
Will position window at top left, and will maximize to
full screen, or to any max width/height that has been
specified in the config file.
- ADD: option in touchbuddy.cfg for initial behaviour for dot/normal cursor
cursor_state = [normal|dot]
can still be toggled between dot/normal from *TB* tab
- ADD: option in touchbuddy.cfg for delay timing between
keypresses in macros (normal and rawkey).
Units are in milliseconds
keypress_delay = 30
- FIX: rawkey events now use the keypress_delay timing in the
above entry. It appears that under some circumstances,
rawkey events were being sent too quickly, and the game
was not "seing" them happen (you have no idea how long
it took me to track this one down!)
- FIX: bug in code that set window to NOACTIVATE in client mode
Should have only been NOACTIVATE when in "Local" mode
- ADD: Allow embedded ActiveX modules in a tab
Allows PDFs, word docs, web pages, etc to be viewed
in a tab, and multiple tabs can have different
ActiveX items defined.
no specified size -> full window, and will resize.
x/y/w/h specified -> will not resize.
If loading a "file:" object, you must provide a
full path name to it
- ADD: Displays rawkey names (and hex codes)
Start TouchBuddy in "Client" mode, select the *TB* tab
Press any key on the keyboard, and the rawkey name
and its hex code will be displayed in status bar
across bottom of window.
- ADD: A more complete list of rawkey names and hex codes
Understands more keys now
rawkey reference doc now HTML
[/b]
also hoping to find time to add the ability to use the rawkey hex values for rawkey events, rather than relying on the rawkey "names".

Greetings aces.
I've been following the touchbuddy topic with great anticipation. Finally I got my secondary system with a 8" Hami touchscreen running (pics to follow). Having trouble login in to lockon.ru I luckily was able to "track down" Zorlac here... :)
Now I just need the newest version of Zorlacs masterpiece. May I ask for a download link?
---
Already catching attention I would like to put up following networking problem I have. My setup is following.
(1) house1: phone line --- DSL wireless router -*- house2: wireless adapter --- onboard ethernet adapter - main PC
(2) main PC - PCI ehternet adapter --- onboard ethernet adapter - secondary PC (with touchscreen/touchbuddy)
It already took me some time to get (1) running flawlessly. After 2 days (2) is also running, kinda. All static IP adresses.
Problem with (2): I finally can ping the IP adresses on both systems - so I take it touchbuddy would work. But I get nothing shown under network places/workgroups (e.g. no file/printer sharing). Plus the secondary PC does not get any internet connection. I cannot even ping the Router (its IP is set as standard gateway, works on main PC that way).
Any advice?

Damn, I didnt update this forum thread with new releases, so it doesnt show anything about 0.62, 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, and the newly released v1.3.0 (bumped the version to allow TouchBuddy's version to match the Toolkit's).
More info about the latest version here:
http://www.touch-buddy.com/forums/
there has a been a LOT of new features been added in v1.3, hence the long delay from v0.6.x. In fact, the release notes for v1.3 are as long as all the other releases put together.
We also have the TouchBuddy toolkit, to allow users to create their own profiles with a drag-n-drop editor.
Come take a look at some setups in the gallery if you are interested, view the demo movies (more to come soon), have a chat, have a read, ask questions.... but leave the "touch" jokes behind... we have heard pretty much all of them :)
