basically the same as with my lomac post

i finally got a videocard good enough to run this sim well, so i'm giving it a spin.

i have an il2-fb/pf ch profile loaded and mapped, but haven't found the game's manual very helpful in learning how to configure the options in il2 to allow the ch profiles to work as they should. in the input options setup screen only the rudder pedals seem to be recognized(moving the green dot left and right as i move the pedals) while neither the stick nor throttle have any effect in whatever axis i select.

i've figured out how to assign the basic axis (power, aileron, etc) but wonder if i need to assign every button function manually in the game so it corresponds with the ch profile.

any basic faq would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

i think part of the problem here is that my joystick keeps "dropping out" for some reason...both the pedals and throttle respond when i test them in ch cm but the stick does not.

another odd thing is that at one point when i check the status of them in control panel-hardware-game controllers, it will just indicate ch control manager device 1 and 2 (and in this case 2 is the joystick, which isn't responding). yet when i check them later they will be indicated by name- ch fighterstick, propedals, throttle.

i have also noticed that windows will periodically 're-recognize' the stick, throttle, and pedals, and then go through the whole driver search production.

long story short- it seems like there's some flakiness going on here.
any suggestions?

Are your Power Management settings on the USB Root Hubs set to allow the PC to turn off the devices to save power?

Like Michael says, I posted this over at the IL2 forums in the community help section under the 'user fixes..' thread as it has affect may people:

USB devices going AWOL?
Find unplugging them and then plugging them back in brings them back on parade?

Then try:

Open device manager and expand 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers'

Right click 'usb root hub' (you may have two or more so do each in turn).

Select the 'power management' tab.
Deselect 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'

Why does this work?

Sometimes XP decides a device is not in current use and will power it down, unplugging and plugging it back in again re-powers the 'hub' (this is the hub on the mobo not to be confused with an external hub).

This behaviour can occur regardless of the devices being attached to built-in, powered/unpowered hubs or pci add in cards.
[/b]

Other possible causes could be chipset drivers and power supply issues, there have been various patches issued for the USB system. Are you using SP2 for XP?
