 I have been unable to get anything to recognise the Throttle Hat Switch. What is necessary to make it functional for IL-2 Forgotten Battles?
I would like to program the "Fighter stick Hat" to look at "level" views, i.e. Left Front, Right Front and the throttle Hat switch to look at remaining views that are "Look Up" views. Example: Hat Switch on throttle for: Left Front Up. Right Front UP, etc. So far nothing seems to get the the Throttle's Hat Switch to function. All help appreciated.

Either program it within the game (or) put the hat switch in mapped mode and then enter in the keystrokes needed for the views.

In IL-2 I have the hat switch mapped instead of it being a DirectX switch or POV hat so for each position I map the keypad keys KP8, KP9 etc then in shifted mode I have 'HOLD KP5 KP8' which gives me a forward up view and use that one each of the other hat positions. Take a look at my IL-2 profile in the profiles section to see what I mean.

Another thing you can do to save the throttle POV for something else is to define a button to IL-2's "look up" command (KP5?) and another button to IL-2's "look down" command (KP2?) (I use the two outside buttons on the back of the throttle for this). Then, you can simply press the stick's POV alone or in combination with the "look up" or "look down" buttons to produce level, 45-degree up, or 45-degree down views, respectively. If you want the straight-up view, press the "look up" key by itself.

I've never tried this with the stick POV set to the DirectX setting, so it may or may not work. I always program the eight positions to KP8, KP9, KP6, KP3, KP2, KP1, KP4, and KP7 (beginning with "up" and proceeding clockwise around the hat). This is simple to do using the GUI, and the view scheme I described will work if you do it.

This also works in Aces High and probably in some other sims, as well.
