How well does it work? I don't want to use the virtual cockpit so does it suck in F4 because it does'nt move smooth and just snaps to the diff positions? Thanx

In my experience, using TrackIR with the 2D pit is an exercise in jerky frustration. It works well with the 3D pit, but as I'm sure you know, it is ugly and not particularly functional. What I tend to do is use the 2D pit most of the time without TrackIR and switch the 3D pit with TrackIR for the relatively rare knife fight.

I have TrackIR 4. Of all the commerical addons I have for FS9, I think that one is my favorite.
I like to fly in virtual cockpit and TrackIR does away with the need for the hat-switch while in 3d mode.
It is smooth and fairly simple to set up.
Next time you drive your car, watch the way you swivel your head to look out the side window, glance over at the radio, look down at the center counsel, and talk to your passenger. That is the way TrackIR works. It is the closest I have seen to puting real world vision into a sim game.
There are quirks with it, like any sophisticated system. It does not do well if there is a bright light behind you. I had my first one fail after about a month. They sent a replacement quickly so their tech support seems pretty prompt.
Its spendy, around $179 last I looked, but if you like flying in virtual mode, it is worth the money.

You are still flying if you aren't touching the ground.

I have a trakir 4pro but never use it with F4 as I only use the 2d pit in F4. But I also have lockon flaming cliffs which is awesome with trakir.
