I'm gonna buy one or the other depending on which one you guys suggest.
I fly FS9, PF, BoB2. Falcon4 Allied Force and maybe Aces High 2 one of these days.
Give me your pros & cons.
Looks like a good addon to my sim pit.

Thanks

May I suggest TouchBuddy (http://touch-buddy.com/)? Take a look thru the forums and also follow this thread (http://www.teambsr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4436&start=0). It may just be another option that you hadn't thought of.

And I happen to own a DX1 and XKeys Pro. :D

Hey Debby,

Were you with CH back in the mid 90's? Some patient gal there talked me off the ledge as I waited AGES for the CH Pro Throttle that was supposed to come out in a "wee bit". I think I finished half an engineering degree waiting for it.

... Which in retrospect was probably a good thing becaue playing Xwing (my addiction at the time) is not condusive to passing grades.

Debby

Yep, that was undoubtedly me ... I've been here since '93.

Indeed, the Pro Throttle took a "wee bit" of time to release. As did our Force FX, Yoke, pedals, etc. ;) Sometime delaying a product to ensure quality, makes for some not-so-patient fans. :sorry:

Glad to hear that in some obscure way, we helped you with your career! :cheerlead:

Please tell me that you are creating some kind of realistic MFD that we can hook up to the command program (preferably as many as 3) and program our little hearts out. Aimsworth has one that's kind of nice, but I would rather have something from CH that can be tied into the command program.

I know, and I've been eyeing this very closely. This is the reason why I'm pressing this matter so hard right now. If such a product is in development by CH, then I wouldn't consider the Aimsworth because the CH system would work with Control Manager. If this is not the product that people seem so secretive about, then I would certainly start moving towards the Aimsworth. I guess I'm hoping for a system as easy to configure as the rest of my CH gear.

Well, there were photos that seem to confirm the suspicions. The very least I would like to know is whether the 2-device barrier of the DX-1 has been broken. I need 2-3 MFD's, an ICP, and probably 2 side panels for lights other non-essential essentials. So I'm honestly thinking of 5-6 DX-1s in my head (yes, really). I have other options to accomplish this (Aimsworth MFD's and ICP combined with 2 DX-1s should the 2-device not be broken), but I really want to start planning for how things will go.

But what I really want to know is this: Is this mystery product only tied to DX-1s or is this an imput control that could conceivably work with many other types of devices - such as the aforementioned Aimsworth stuff?

I need less popcorn and more leaks - and not leaks of rich, creamery butter either :p

:(  :p

Now that you've gotten me thinking about it again (see what you've done), one really great addition that the DX-1s should incorporate are toggles. From what I understand, each button is programmed somehow, and their position on the board is relatively unimportant - as long as they are on the board. What if you had the same button "base" but instead of a button or key, there was instead a toggle switch not unlike that on my TQ. This would increase the programmability, but even more important increase realism as well. Just think of how many switches there are in a cockpit. This idea came to me when I was mentally laying out an F-16 ICP for a DX-1. I was struggling at how to represent the Data Command Switch as well as the up/down toggle. That's when I thought that having something like what's on the TQ would be a great addition. Perhaps small rotary knobs would also be great and also increase realism.

This is what happens when you get me thinking. I just wish I had 531 Ghost's manual dexterity or I would start building my own stuff.

Corsair8X
21st August 2006, 05:29 AM
I keep thinking about this. Rotary knobs are not what I am thinking now. That suggests pots. Instead, there could be click-switches (multi-stop rotary knobs - think like old-school tv channel knobs). Probably wouldn't need more than 8 positions and it could act much like a key-tumbler design. Each position of the knob contacts a different part of the base which then transmits the signal the same way as the standard buttons do. There is obviously some kind of contact/transmit made with the standard buttons. The same could be true with the rotary selector as well. Each position makes contact with a different part and thus transmits a different signal. One wouldn't even need to develop much in the way of hardware. I'm sure that the toggle switch from the TQ could also be used. I think there is enough real estate there to handle the twisting-motion. Maybe it would have to be a different colour than the toggles to differentiate them. I think that along with the toggles combined with the standard buttons would be a complete solution for people. Best part is that the toggles/switches could technically be released as an accessory to the main unit.

I don't know, just more thoughts. The smell of popcorn makes most people hungry. I guess the smell of it simply makes me more thoughtful and inventive ;)

Uh...if I threaten to never buy any CH Products products again until whatever this is that is coming out, would you then tell us what it is sometime today?

Well, I am going to go ahead and spill the beans based on inaccurate speculation.

In case you haven't noticed, Ergodex has been quiet for quite some time as well. What has basically happened here is CH Products has acquired Ergodex and Bob Church has updated the CH Control Manager(let's say v5.0 that also cooks popcorn and brews beer) to reprogram the Ergodex, but not only that, but also allow you to utilize multiple Ergodexs' that can be programmed individually. This was allowed by querying the ROM chip in the Ergodex as they all have a unique serial number tied to the product.

Am I close?

I've finally figured this out, that is, the real reason for all this popcorn munching. We are being primed for the new product. The new product is an attachment that allows you attach your popcorn popper directly to your CH HOTAS so you can have popcorn in flight without leaving your cockpit.

You can now use CM to program the popper's t iming and to start it up with a HOTAS button so you don't take your eyes off the HUD. Mine will be on the throttle. As you begin your bomb run, hit the popcorn popper (PC) button you have programmed, and exactly one minute after competing your run you wil have fresh popcorn for the flight home.

This work is amazing. The flight sim world will go wild. Everyone will want one.

It will only cost you the combined price of the Fighterstick, Pro-Throttle and Pro-Pedals. But wait. It comes with three free specially designed bags of CH microwave popcorn, and for just $19.95 you will get three more bags.

I figured this out by watching QVC and HSN. I saw products that I know were the test prototypes which must have been clandestinely marketed there by CH, even without any mention of flight sims, or even of CH. They must have created a shadow company to do the testing. These CH folks are so clever.

It took a genius to design this, and an even greater one to figure out what was coming. I'm due an honorarium. Just send me a PM and I'll direct you where to send it.

But wait ... maybe I dreamed this ... But wait ... ZZZzzzz ...

...Ok Ok I see how this BS is gonna play out. This popcorn eating is all very silly and the fact that I still dont have my new CH MFD style MFD's (thats my guess) is really starting to irritate me. So much so in fact that I am going to begin my own little "Debby You Suck For Not Telling Us More Campaign"

Hell if Saddam can get his way by going on a hunger strike then I will do the same. Not go on a hunger strike (cause that would make me hungry) but cause some chaos that will bring to light the fact that we are all political prisoners on this forum.

I had this weird dream. On TV a FOX News reporter was saying, in a dramatically concerned voice,

>>Today, December 29, 2006, CH Products announced that it sold its interest in Orville Redenbachers popping corn company, and that its announcement of its secret computer game controller device expected to have been released this year will be delayed until around December of 2007. Its spokesperson further stated that CH regrets that during the long wait many of their faithful customers met their demise because of irrationally adhering to a popcorn-only diet.

With that, the U.S. Senate and the Securities and Exchange Commission are certain to launch an investigation into the circumstances that led to CH's unloading its Reddenbacher stock. Insider trading is suspected. Certainly, its incessant demand that its customers continue to munch popcorn while waiting for the new product announcement is evidence that it really had no intention of producing the new controller product so avidly anticipated by its customers. It seems it only wanted its customers to buy popcorn, preferably in vast quantities.

One, Debby McDowell, seems to be the central figure in the Senate investigation. Rumor has it that she would have headed up CH's new popcorn popper division, but the announcement puts her fate in doubt. Some say that she may have come under the influence of a male personage.

This person, now known only as "Hoff" is rumored to have had a Svengali-like spell over her. Personally wielding such influence as to be sometimes referred to as "The Debby," it is thought that few women have had such influence in the world of PC game controllers.

Why this, Hoff, would have sought to control her to such an extent has big business aghast. He is said to have been concerned that the controller that CH would market would rival his own joystick, and he did not want to have to release it early. That kind of competition could not be allowed. The tension to release his joystick was growing stronger, CH was rubbing him the wrong way, and Debby was the contact he really needed to assure that his joystick would not have to suffer an early release.

Some, however, question this theory, saying that the Hoff actually has no joystick to release. Others, though the source of their knowledge is not known, have said they felt that his joystick was so large that it was ergonomically impractical, and, thus, it was just unacceptable.

Others have questioned its ability to withstand heavy use, saying it lacks the rigidity of the CH stick. If it is released too early, it is likely that this characteristic will be exacerbated. Debby McDowell was quoted as saying, although in a halting manner, that she was loyal to CH Products, and she had only passing interest in the release of the Hoff's stick. The mystery continues.

Also expected to be the target of the investigation are two shadowy characters whose roles with CH Products are not clear, although they are certainly suspicious. These two are now known only by the handles, Ghost 531 and Revvin', respectively, although just who they are has not been confirmed. They seemed to have undue influence over CH customers, explaining, perhaps, why so many would have abandoned a rational lifestyle to go into popcorn munching almost exclusively.

A team of investigative reporters reportedly uncovered the conspiracy. They are poised to release a new book purporting to answer all of these questions. It is expected to be titled, "All The Debby's Men."

The flight sim world in particular, and the business world in general, waits in stark paralysis in anticipation of the unfolding story.<<

Then, I woke up ...... Was it really only a dream? I think it must be true. Please pass me the popcorn. No, not that steak and lobster dinner; not that salad.
