I love the CH set up. I only have one problem and it's small. The 8 way hat on the fighter stick is up too high for easy access. I use this hat for POV and it just doesn't feel right. Is it possible to swap the 8 way hat with the 4 way hat just below it? If so how big a job is it? Thanks.

Yeah.. I'm wondering about this too. Got the Fighterstick USB 3 days ago and the 8-way hat is just too high(the way it is now I just can't use it). The placement of the bottom 4-way hat is perfect for my thumb. *shrug*
Has anyone done it before?

Give it time, when I first got my old anaologue CH HOTAS it felt very awkward and "not right". With time you wil get used to the size and shape. In fact because it is so big I have to slide my hands around to get at all the buttons. In doing so my hands don't get sweaty like they used to as I clutched my old smaller joysticks tightly.
I also have found that you get so used to the HOTAS setup you don't even think about what your hands are doing or the locations of the buttons/switches, the CH gear helps you immerse in the game even more!
Now if I could just get used to my TRACK IR2!!!

From past conversations with Michael the POV hat is a 4 way hat but mechanically it can hit the left and up positions etc to give you the 8 possible ways. Some users have used modelling foam to craft a fillet to go around the base of the stick to raise their hand slightly higher.
Evey> Make sure you edit your TrackIR profile to give yourself a nice big deadzone so small movement does not effect your gunnery. I don't know if the file format is different but I've attached my TIR profile that I use in IL-2 and Lock On, if it's the wrong file format then I'll post images of how my axis look in the TrackIR software.

From what I can remember from the gameport versions, you cant physicaly swap the the buttons. because they are soldered to a circuit board

I took a quick look, and the buttons arent even the same diameter, Maybe Michael has a suggestion.

Great, thanks. My main problem is that I am still tilting my head. I think I will try buzzing a static object and maintaining visuals of it. this is the way I learn't how to use the views in Warbirds many years ago.

It's surprising how much you move your head without realising when playing sims, it does take a little getting usedto but don't give up -evey-
Are you still playing World War II Online? if so I was given a very handy URL for TrackIR users. WWIIOL does'nt support TrackIR natively yet of course but this (http://kaf.tri6.net/trackmapper/) program uses the TrackIR to trigger zones that emulate keypresses, a bit like the keymapper that was originally in the TrackIR software that never worked properly :D

Also try using a bit of leaning instead of relying on moving your head around so much, a small tilt to the left or right does wonders and aids the immersion as you lean and turn your head to get those over the shoulder views.
