Hi guys I just received my CH Pro Throttle USB and I was trying my hand at programming it for IL2FBAEP. The main problem I have is that the mapped mode button is greyed out and I can't activate. What is happening? I downloaded one of the profiles from this site and still when I load it the mapped button is greyed out.
On a second issue I am using the Pro Throttle with a Saitek Cyborg Evo. They are working fine in direct mode in IL-2 and have no problem assigning the functions there. However the stick is JOY2 and the Throttle is JOY1 this means that I can not fine tune the stick in the hardware input window. How can I make the Jozstich be joy1 and the throttle be joy2 I would prefer it that way.
Pther than that do you have any advice for those of us using controllers from different makers and how to make them get along smoothly and even be programmable under CHCM. Once CH makes a stick with a twist handle I will be the first in line to buy it . I have always been a fan of CH products but I still think that a twist handle is the easiest and most efficient way to implement a rudder.

If the Mapped Mode button is greyed but the Direct Mode and Off Mode buttons are lit, it means that the Control Manager doesn't have a map yet. You need to load a map into the Control Manager editor and then click the "Download" button (9th from the left) to send the map to the Control Manager drivers. Then the Mapped Mode button should light up. They're really two different operations. The Download moves the map to the drivers and sets Mapped Mode in the same operation. Once the map has been transferred, you can use the three mode buttons (Off, Direct, and Mapped) to switch the state of the CM, but the last map loaded is the one that you're dealing with. If there is no "last map" down there, usually only happens right after an install, then it can't really put you into mapped mode.
If all three buttons are greyed, then the Control Manager isn't seeing any CH device present at all which could be a hardware problem of some sort, or if you're running XP it could be that you plugged things in after install. If that's the case, hit the "Test/Calibrate" button and the CM will redetect things.
As for controlling the ordering of devices where they're not all CH, it's just hit or miss. The determining factor changes with each OS version and with each DX version. The Control Manager can control it's own devices, but it can't do anything about the Cyborg, etc. The only way I can think to do it is to put the Control Manager into OFF mode so that all the CM devices disappear while the Cyborg is unplugged, plug the Cyborg in then (it'll get #1 because it's the only device there) and then switch the Control Manager devices back to Direct or Mapped mode.
The only other option would be to completely program the Pro Throttle to send characters, then it won't show up in Game Controllers at all. You'd still have to unplug/replug the Cyborg to get it back into the #1 slot if it's not landing there on it's own, though, since the ProThrottle and Cyborg are still going to be ordered wrong immediately after boot. You might try moving things around to different port and restarting each time. The order is usually stable after the first restart, e.g. it tends to put things in the same order each time, you just need to get them to naturally line up with the Cyborg first. Sounds a lot easier than it is, though, and you'll run a lot of New Hardware Wizards getting it lined up.
Probably not much help I'm afraid. The device ordering thing has been a problem since day one. Under the new DirectInput stuff, the game publisher is supposed to give you a list of all the devices that are plugged in and let you select things. Joystick ID isn't supposed to be a factor. All I can say is that MS is considerably more optimistic than I am. :)
