problems with my CH Hotas. I have done everything possible including buying a pci usb card, external powered usb router and sending the hotas back to CH. But it has been returned to me and I still cant get it to stop bouncing and to read in AH regularly.Sometimes its there and sometimes its not. Sometimes the throttle is there but the stick and rudders are not. Or no rudder and throttle but a stick . And all other variations:) I have reinstalled windoze multiple times. Tried to get it to work before putting any other programs on the puter.
The only way I can get it to even partially work is as a combined Hotas.

Im mechanical but not technical with computers. Im beginning to think the MB might be the conflict.

MB INTL 865PE AB60R SHUTTLE RTL
VGA ATI RADEON 9800PRO 128M 8X
POWER SUPPLY ANTEC TRUE430 ATX RTL
CPU P4/2.8CGHz 800M 478P/512K HT RT
DDRAM 1GB|64X64 VS DDR400 KIT COR
HD 80GB|WD 7200RPM 8MB WD800JB
DVD+/-/RAM/CDRW LG|GSA-4081B RTL
SOUND BLASTER|AUDIGY ES (SB0162)
CD MS|WINDOWS XP PRO w/SP1a

I found a friend in the area who is letting me come to his home Wed at noon to plug my hotas in and see if it works on his computer. If it works there then Im sure that means I have a compatability issue on my end. But I dont understand how to find the problem. Could the MB and USB chip be a problem? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

What happened when you plugged the gear into your mates system?

Like a champ.

His PC at home has a Intel chipset on a Shuttle mobo. I think it is time to get a better mobo.

OK Ive bought a Intel MB and a MSI 875p and I still have some probs. My views stick in AH . They are good for a moment then they will stick until I hit other commands then they go back to normal .Sometimes the other buttons work and sometimes they dont.
Im ready to ask CH to send a new set just to see if I have the HOTAS from hell.

Purchased Equip for CH HOTAS:
New Belkin USB powered router $50
New USB Belkin PCI card $??
Total #3 new Mb's: Intel $129
MSI 875 Neo P $159
Shuttle Ar60Br $103

This is along with the rest of the new system in my first post. This is getting to be an expensive Hotas.

Any luck? If they won't run as plain Windows HID devices, the Control Manager won't fix it. They at least show up in the Game Controllers test, responds to stick movements, etc. It's just kind of hard to see how 3 MBs and a PCI card wouldn't work somewhere along the line. As near as I've been able to tell, the AH problem is pretty rare and that's too many combination. Did you ever get a chance to try different combinations/numbers of CH controllers to see if it was just the CH stuff or a particular CH controller, etc.?

I don't know what to say...

When I got your controllers here at the shop I tried the following...

1 controller in AH with no CM installed
1 controller in AH with CM installed, no mapping
1 controller in AH with CM installed, mapped

2 controllers(FGTR-PT and FGTR-PP and PT-PP) in AH with no CM installed
2 controllers(FGTR-PT and FGTR-PP and PT-PP) in AH with CM, no mapping
2 controllers(FGTR-PT and FGTR-PP and PT-PP) in AH with CM, mapped

3 controllers(FGTR-PT-PP) in AH with no CM
3 controllers(FGTR-PT-PP) in AH with CM, no mapping
3 controllers(FGTR-PT-PP) in AH with CM, mapped

I found no problems. So I took them out the Repair Department and had them remove all of the components and test them individually. They found no problems. So then I had them put the controllers all back together and check them again, still no problems.

So I figured why take a chance and I had them throw away ALL of the pots (including the ones on the mini joystick) and had brand new pots put in. I had the units tested and no problems. :(

Finally I thought.... ok it's some combination of Aces High since they are testing with special software out in the Repair Department. So I took all three controllers back to my office did a clean install of Aces High and once again I checked...

After all of that all I am  because I can't find anything wrong, I can't think of what to try next, and it is really starting to bother me that I can't find why it is doing this to Silat.

I know. I hate when it happens, too. I don't know what it might be. I though if it made a difference on Silat's machine, maybe it would point us in the right direction. The only thing that was a bit out-of-the-ordinary is that the machine is hyperthreading which might increase the possibility that something could deadlock, but having one device or another disappear like that is just strange. It'll probably turn out to be something simple like the port power getting shut down. :)

Anyway, maybe he'll be able to shed some light after the next round of tests at his buddies.
