Hiyas,
I have a few questions please! I now have the FS, PT, & PP. Fulll HOTAS. I fly Aces High, Forgotten Battles, and FS 2004.
The first thing that happened last night: I uninstalled the Logitech stick I was using. This left the PT and the PP still installed. I have the current CM 3.0 installed. Upon plugging in the FS it jumped to the #2 controller position in Windows XP Pro. Try as I might, Uninstalling all controllers and the CM using the windows uninstall and CH Delete, moving the controllers to different USB ports, reading the directions nothing would change the order of the controllers in windows. They remain PT, FS, PP. Is there anyway to accomplish this!
Next, I built a profile for Aces High incorporating all 3 controllers. Everything becomes Aux Device #1. Great but I couldn't get the POV recognized as POV #2 on the throttle. I really don't need to do anything fancy but AH limits you to 32 buttons. They are all used up so I need to assign the 2 POVs. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks for any info,
Dracon

There's no reliable way to control it with Windows alone. After you've installed the Control Manager and restarted once to let Windows sort out it's own ordering, you can control them using a map, though. Start a new map, add the stick, then the throttle, then the pedals. Don't do anything else, just download the map. You'll end up with 3 Control Manager Devices showing. #1 will be the stick and will be in the Joystick #1 position. #2 will be the throttle, joystick #2, and #3 will be the pedals, joystick #3.

Select the ProThrottle, click on the POV. Uncheck the box that says "Use as POV". That will enable the box that says "DirectX Mode". Uncheck that. Now you can program the 8 hat positions independently to send characters. If you leave DirectX Mode checked, you can program them to send any Windows button, but if you can only use 32 you're probably there already.
Hope this helps!

Heya Sticky!!
How many times have you come to my rescue! You are the Man!
As always I can only say thanks and chalk up another case of Brewskies.
That worked slick! Did just what you said made the default map if you will and that straightened out the joystick alignment.
INSERT>>> Remember when I had the same mess with the Saitek X-36 and the CH Peds some 3-4 years back?? You sent me that new little utility that you had made...CH Delete :)
However, I created the Aces High Profile and did what you said, Unchecked both POV and DirectX. I was outta buttons as we thought. So it just won't work. It is really of no matter as I just used the default with CM Devices 1-3 instead of grouping all axis together in one big Aux Device.
I put the CMStart.exe in the Startup folder and I am good-to-go at reboot! Now I just have to configure Forgotten Battles and FS 2004.
Sticky the reason I was concerned about ordering the sticks is because I also mess around with Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam. I haven't tried them yet, but I was betting the Joystick used to drive tanks, boats, and the planes had to be in the #1 position.
Anyway, thanks old friend! I do owe ya again <S>

Battlefield will only see the first stick listed in Game Controllers. It does not have what you would call "decent" joystick support more along the lines of "half assed" B)
But there are maps and CMC files for both BF42 and BFV here at the hangar so things work out in the end.... if you are CH user B)

Yeah, it was one of the things I wanted to fix if I could. I don't know who came up with the system in the first place, but that's been a problem since day one. Anyway, I'm glad it's sorted things out for you!

Yup. At the time you had to run CHDelete if you ran NukeUSB, the Control Panel order depended on the installation order. Was that a Saitek originally? I don't have mail going back that far, last time we talked it was about an FF1 and XP drivers, but that was just a 18 months ago and the same problem was there seems to me.

Michael will probably disagree with me on this, but if a sim will support multiple controllers, I think the DX assignments are the best way to go. It's a little more trouble to set up, but they're faster to respond, they don't delay the rest of the map significantly, and you can (presumably) send as many simultaneous commands as you need to. It's just a better deal for sims that support it.

Well, FB maps are all over the place. Here, Spidey's, and maybe the CH site, too. There are links on my "Links" page to them all if you need them. Also, if you're doing FS2K4, you might pick up the CMFS utility on my site. Look for CMFSV110.ZIP on the "Files" page. It was originally set up for FS2K2, but it works with 2K4 too if you point out the CFG files to it manually, and it explains what causes the confusion that occurs the first time you activate a map in Flight Simulator. Also has a couple of sample yoke maps in it that show how to get the shifted functions to double up DX functions, etc. Anyway, you might find it helpful.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Well, if you run into problems just come on back. I don't know of any, but if there are any somebody has probably run into the same thing already and can help.

Aww, it's my pleasure, Dennis! I'm glad to see you found us over here! If you need anything just ask!
Best regards,
