At one time I had all my CH products up and running with no problems at all. I had upgraded to CM 3.0 and had no problems.

For some time I got involved in playing other games and didn't really pay much attention to my controllers. I always left them plugged in and took them for granted. Then I noticed that the mode lights that are on when the computer is on were out. :o

I tried to calibrate the controls and CM kept giving me an error message saying no active devices. Finally after reinstalling the software for the USB2.0 card and CM 3.0 I was able to calibrate the stick, pedals and throttle. But, the game still would not recognize them. They don't show up when I go to Control panel and try to add them. For IL2 I went to config and checked the box for use joystick. No luck with LockOn either.

I spent over an hour on the phone with CH tech support on Friday and they weren't able to solve this problem. We went into regedit and removed the 068e files, used chdelete, updated DirectX and more. Still didn't work. At the end I emailed my install log for analysis by software development. Everything CH has been removed and disconnected and I have agree to leave it that way until they get back to me.

Has anyone experinced this problem? I am asking only as a last resort in case CH can't solve the problem.

I am thinking it may be something related to a Widows XP update or worse.

string_dude,

Remove the USB2.0 card and reboot the system without it. Then shutdown your PC and re-install the USBB2.0 card without anything attached to it. After windows loads, plug in you CH components 1 by 1 and see if XP detects the new hardware. Do you have any on board USB ports? Try those if the card wont work. Have you had any windows updates since the CH products last worked?

Yes, I have onboard USB ports. When you say remove do you mean physically remove the card and then reinstall the card as well as using control manager? That probably is best. I have two zip drives plugged into the USB 2.0 and they seem to be working properly. The problem with the CH controllers is persistent in either USB or USB 2.0. I will give it a try if CH doesn't come up with something.

Thanks,

string_dude,

Yea, I would try physically removing the card. If this doesnt work, Windows XP installation gives you the option of re-installing windows without loosing any other data on your harddrive. This would be your best second option.

It works. Finally! I disconnected the TSW2, ran CH Delete and reinstalled CHMgr. Windows game controller recognized the CH Controllers and I am now able to use it in the IL2. I didn't have to completely reinstall Windows XP. Whew. That was going to be my last resort. It just didn't seem to make sense to me that I would have to start all over again. Especially since all other USB controllers were working. Why only the CH controller was giving such a problem. :)

I'd guess a Thomas Super-Wheel 2....

Seems to be available as both analog and USB, or maybe just convertible to USB. I'm not all that familiar. Be interesting to know whether it was an analog or USB version, though.
