Greetings all,
I'm new to this forum, I just found it recently. I love my CH equipment and I'm happy to have found a community based around it. Thanks for having me here!
Now onto my problems. I'm not sure if this is hardware or software related so I'll just ask here:
I have a Fighterstick and Pro Throttle, both USB, and I use CH Control Manager 3.0. About six months ago BUTTON 1 (trigger) believes itself to be BUTTON 3 when pressed in the Control Manger. When pressed the arrow goes directly to the BUTTON 3 location in the GUI. Another problem that occured at the same time is all of my HAT switches and POV's do not recognize the UP position. This is both on the stick as well as the throttle.
Tech support from CH had me uninstall/reinstall. After about 8 Un/Re's it worked for a short time then the problem reoccured. Has this happend with anyone else? Hope you can help!
Regards,
Dirk

Dirk,
Sounds like a Window Xp problem, Not a CH problem. I suggest re-installing Windows XP, without reformatting your Harddrive. You can do this and not loose any important info on your computer (Most importantly GAMES lol). I have seen some pc's I have worked on that have a hurrican of problems hit the system registry. Also, before you try this, reinstall all the usb drivers in the system control panel (not just CH drivers).

I can maybe explain part of it. There's a small bug in the GUI that causes some odd behavior in the click-select logic. There are a few controls that appear in both the left- and right-hand views. On the FighterStick, it's Hat 3 and Button 3. You can select them from either of the inset views. If your mouse cursor is in a position over the right hand inset that causes the label for one of these controls to show up, then any button you click will cause the yellow arrow to jump to that control. It's easy to make it happen. Over the right inset view, move the mouse cursor until "Button 3" shows up. Now click button 2 or the trigger or whatever. The yellow cursor will jump to the right view of button 3.
It doesn't really affect the program, though. The right half of the display shows the actual button you clicked and the programming is correct as far as I can tell. It's just that the yellow cursor moves to the wrong place.
Would that explain any of what you're seeing? Does the trigger work button 1 and does the POV hat forward work alright in the Test screen while the Control Manager is in Direct Mode?

I have re-formatted and re-installed twice to fix other problems with my pc, and this remains unresolved. When you say USB drivers to you mean drivers for the motherboard?

I don't think this is a GUI problem, I can put the mouse anywhere and button 1 is still button 3. While in-game when button 1 is pressed it performs whatever button 3 is programmed to do and so does button 3. Button 1 will also change the lights on the controller, something only button 3 did.
In the direct test mode when button 1 is pressed buttons 1 and 3 light up.
When hat 1 is pressed I see buttons 5 and 6.
Hat 2: 9 and 10
Hat 3: 13 and 14
The hats also will show both button lights when pressed to right.
POV: Does not register any light for directions NW and N.
Do you think using an old map from a previous version of CH control manager could cause that? When I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.x to 3.0, I kept the same map files. Could this have contributed to my problem?
Thanks again for the help!

The drivers I discussed are for the motherboard

Sounds more like the wiring harness is separating in the grip. Send me and E-mail and I will get you a RMA number.

I'm with Michael, it sounds like hardware. It shouldn't light multiple anything in Direct Mode. WRT to your other question on the map versions - no, the version shouldn't make a difference so long as you're loading an earlier version map, e.g. a CM2 map in CM3. The maps should be forward-compatible and as far as I know that's true. When you do upgrade CM versions, you can save the map the first time you load it and the CM will update it to conform to any changes that may have been made in the way the program is stored on the HD, but it's not really necessary. Sometimes things do change that could conceivably cause you to need to go back and tweak the earlier version a bit, though I haven't heard of it actually happening yet. If anyone runs across a map that gets broken when you update the CM I'd like to hear about it.
