View Full Version : I think my combat stick is dying.

In the games I play. Aces High and WW20l. My stick will slowly move to the left or up really slowly. So I centered the fine adjust wheels on my stick and calibrated in game and with the CH manager. Still the stick moved by itself. ( Very annoying when zoomed in trying to fire). Next I turned up my dampening in game, it got so high the sticks were not reacting correctly. My question is. Is there a simple part that I can replace in my stick to correct this movement on X and Y axis?

Do you see the Raw Data values "drifting" in the Control Manager's calibration screen?

Are you using a USB hub?

What chipset is your USB host controller?

1) Yes X axis is going from 118 to 119 , and Y axis is going from 127 to 128 in the raw data fields.

2) Yes

3) not sure Mobo is Albatron KX400-8X KT400 Motherboard with USB 2.0/1.1 ports.

Number 1 is ok

Numbers 2 is bad, I strongly discourage the use of hubs....ask Revvin he'll tell you how much I hate them. B)

Number 3 really worries me though. It's running a VIA chipset. Any chance you can plug your stick into a PC with a Intel chipset?

Sunking> Is it a powered hub or using the power from your mainboards USB port? Michael was savaged by a wild USB hub when he was a child and never got over it ;)

It's a GE Electric 4 device hub with its own power adapter that I plug into a usb slot on the mobo and run a Combat stick, pro pedals and pro throttle with. Off the mobo I have a usb intelli mouse and track ir also. theres one open usb slot on the mobo.

The combast stick drifting has just started, thats why I think its a mechanical error.

The 1 count drift you mentioned is normal, any digital system will "bobble" by one at least. It's trying to represent something like 117.5 but it can't do fractions so you see it 117-118-117, that sort of thing. If you know the raw values before you go into the sim are 118 and 128 (or so) and you go fly for awhile so it drifts out on you, what do you see if you go back to the CM at that point? Is it still near the same raw values or is there a noticeable change in them from the 118/128 that you had before you started?
