I have been operating a yoke and rudder pedals for four years with the 15 prong hook-up. Also, for the last few months I have been running fs2004 with windows xp without any trouble. Suddenly, when I went to fly today, The throttle and rudder were twitching on the sim and I had no control yet the elevator and ailerons still worked. Could this possibly be a hardware problem and if not how can I correct the software? In a desperate attempt I deleted all of the software and attempted to reinstall but the software is seriously out of date and I could not remember how I installed in the first place. Now I am stuck without a way to fly :( Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You might try downloading and installing the CH Analog Drivers (ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/chanlg08.exe). This at least would give you the right drivers for Windows XP. Then you could make sure everything was working ok in Game Controllers before you go back into MFS 2004.

I downloaded the drivers, but when I tried to run setup a message appeared telling me installation of the drivers was cancelled. Any ideas?

When during the install did you get the message? As soon as you clicked on the setup or did it come up and start installing?

It went about 2/3 the way through then cancelled.

Are you still able to go into Game Controllers and "Add" your controllers?

yes

What are they listed as in Game Controllers now that you have "Add"ed them?

It is listed as "6-button flight yoke w/two POVs and throttle" which I selected. The status still says "OK." I have tried many times to calibrate but I get the same result-elevator and ailerons work, but throttle and rudder are jittery and I have no control over them.

But is there a "CH" listing at all in here (the "Add" List) even though the install quit?

Here is the list of hardware given in game controlers.
CH fighterstick
CH Force FX
CH gamestick
CH gamestick 14
CH gamestick 3D
CH pro pedals
CH racing wheel
The only options for flight yokes don't say anything about "CH."

The list is the hardware options given for CH products yet there are other options such as 6 button flight yoke w/two POVs and throttle and so on...

I think it might be time to give me a call at CH (760-598-7833). I will be in the office Tuesday June 1st between the hours of 0800-1600 Pacific Time (GMT -7). I want to have a look at what your PC is doing and some of the things you have done.

FWIW, the Game Controllers names for the yokes are:
CH FlightSim Yoke PC
CH Virtual Pilot Pro
The pick list in Game Controllers is alphabetic, so they should be there with the rest of the CH devices. If they're not, yet some of the CH devices are (and your list says that's the case), then it failed about halfway through writing those entries to the registry. I'm not sure why that would be the case, it's all pretty much one big operation at that point. In any case, the registry transfer is the next to last step in the install, the only thing after that is the creation of the folders, and it should do that even if the registry move failed.
If you click the "Start" button, then "Programs", can you find the CH Products section for the analog stuff? What happens if you try to add a GameStick or one of the other CH devices? does it work at all? They all use the same driver, it's just which axes, etc. the drivers expect that changes. If that would work, it would tell us whether the CH drivers are there and can be loaded or not. If it's just missed registry entries, I could send you a REG file that will put the yoke entries into the list easily enough.
Otherwise, calling Michael on Tuesday is the best idea. Something didn't go correctly, it's hard to say what, but he can probably get you up and running.

I could not load any of the other CH devices; the drivers were not present. The entire time I have had this computer (about a year) I have operated the yoke and pedals by selecting "6 button flight yoke with two POVs and throttle" from the list and then checking the box for rudder pedals. As I said before I have had my CH yoke and pedals for at least 3 or 4 years and I didn't think the old cd it came with did any good yet I left the software on the computer. Once I discovered the problem I tried to retrace my steps and just reload the software that the old cd it came with had and redo what I did in the game controllers section of the control panel. It still resulted in a jittery throttle and rudder without control and a working aileron and elevator. I was aware the buttons on the left top of the yoke didn't work properly (because a two POV yoke was selected) but I just left it and was happy to be flying. I don't understand how it could work one day and not the next.

Something bad has transpired on your rig. Posts are not going to get you up and running again. It's time to call me so I can figure out what went wrong, and more importantly how to fix it.
760-598-2518 (ask for Michael)
760-598-7833 (I'm the only one who picks up :D )

Not sure if we are open check HERE (http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/) find out what time it is in San Diego. If it's not between the hours above then don't waste the money on the call.
