I've been holding discussions on a couple of other forums about this project, but I wanted to get more input.

I'm working on the first of a series of cockpit projects that a person with minimal experience can build.

The first one is a single seat WWII era fighter cockpit. Here's the progress so far:

The "kit" would be available two ways:

1 - Assembly instructions & a CD with videos that illustrate any construction areas that need special attention.
A 1:1 scale plan set for all the parts needed to build the simulator
A set of "router templates" that can be used to cut parts out of raw material. You attach the template to the stock blank and cut it out using a router with a .25" pattern cutting bit in it.
The instrument panel wouldn't be provided as a template because of its size. It would really increase the box & shipping cost.

2 - The same as #1, but without the router templates.

I'm hoping to be able to sell them for $100 for the template-supplied version and $50 for the non-template version.

Comments? Invective? :)

thanks all!

100$ for plans would be great, but hopefully, what ever means (tools, equipment)to build and prep materials is something a person that have limited resources could be accessible to. im in the process of making my pit, and let me tell you something, cutting material, and aquiring some material is NOT EASY...
i had to dumb down some of my plans in the effort to acquire them or to cut them... i wish i had a metal lathe, or even a welding torch...theres no way i would have access to that wood cutting thing you use, let alone to spend $$$ just to rent or visit a hobby shop. anyways, good luck with your plans.

Jay, the kit can be made with a simple Jig Saw if that's all you have. (The plans-only version will be $50).

There is no metalworking tools needed at all. The only real metal components are in the flight stick gimbal mechanism and even then you'll only need a hack saw and a drill.
