View Full Version : Pro pedals (USB) calibration problem

I bought a complete USB stick/throttle/pedals setup about 6 weeks ago. I'm playing Aces High and have not had any problems except for pedals until recently. Pedals need to be calibrated during each flight and still have unusual spiking and delays.

Using Direct Mode in CHCtlmgr (3.0)
Win98SE with VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host.
All latest VIA chipset drivers installed and no issue with other devices.
No hub; have changed USB slots without any improvement.

I've calibrated and checked in CHCtlrmgr also. Max deflections are normal but left rudder has an erratic stall on initial throw and will stick at about 1/4 - 1/3 throw, then spike hard after 2/3 throw. I cannot get a smooth deflection.

A faulty pot?

Appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

P.S. I have no problems or issues with AH mapping or device selection.

Do you see this spike in the Control Managers test screen? Do you have access to another PC that has a more reputable chipset? Intel maybe?

Thanks for the response, Michael.

Yes, the test screen shows the stalls. A slow, smooth deflection to the stop of the pedal will pause about 1/3 travel on the test screen, then deflect fully after random intervals of delay; from 1 to 3-4 seconds.

It happens at the start of left deflection and near the end of right deflection.

And now a new development! I brought up CHCtlmgr calibration test and without even touching the pedals, I can watch the graph begin a slow climb to approx. 1/3 deflection, then return to neutral, then deflect again - All without touching the unit.

It's like ouiji board...

I have a G4 ibook, but no other PC.

The symptoms I posted have deteriorated to make the pedals unusable. I think there is a mechanical problem with these pedals and not a USB driver problem.

The left toe brake (x axis) will also not calibrate to, or hold on 0 when fully released after calibration. All problems relate to left pedal.

I'd really like to return these for another set.
