I run a dual boot Vista Ultimate 64Bit and XP PRO.

My computer is a quad Core E6600 x 4 gig ram

I use XP Pro for flight simulation.

The vista I use for most everything else and I use USB ports for other devices.

Is it important I should have all the CH Prod USB plugged before booting to XP?

------------------------------

I seem to be having some problems with the CH prod FS - PP - PT, but I've not isolated them yet.

Thought I'd ask, maybe there is something I've missed.

I wouldn't mind to use the Vista for the Simulators, but they work fine in 32 bit XP PRO. Actually, I can't tell the difference.

Hi domineaux,

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, really. You can plug the controllers in anytime as far as Windows is concerned. You run into the problem in the sim itself, mostly.

With FS, for example, if your stick is plugged into one port, and you're switching things around a lot, you need to get the controllers plugged back into the same port they were in originally before you start FS. Otherwise it thinks your controller configuration has changed and resets all the controller assignments to their default settings. Nothing serious, but it can get to be a pain setting the assignments up every time you fly. Some sims don't care a bit. Some sims will always take whatever controller Windows finds first. Again, if the ports are the same at Windows startup, then you should end up with the same configuration and so whatever you were doing should work. There are some problems if you have multiple controllers of the same type, but generally if you plug each controller into the same port each time and you do that before you start the sim, there's no problem. If you use a different port, Windows will "Find New Hardware" when you plug them in, or when you restart the computer if you plugged them in while the computer was turned off, that can also be an annoyance, but it generally doesn't really cause any problems.

What exactly are you seeing? What sim are you trying to run? There are lots of little things with specific sims that can cause problems. Are you using the Control Manager or just plugging them in and using the standard Windows drivers?

A little more info and maybe we can figure out what the problem is.

Best regards,

- Bob
