View Full Version : Frustrating attempt at Pro Throttle (GP) program..

Well, the speed keys won't run in XP. What is frustrating is that there is no reason you could not use it to edit some profiles and save them - then use the DOS program to send the files to the PT in DOS mode.

But Speedkeys does not find the throttle and it halts.

So I am trying PTSETUP in DOS mode.

This is interesting.

I cannot use SHIFT, CTRL, etc because I do not have a mouse in DOS.

So I find a mouse driver and put my motherboard into USB-> PS/2 emulation mode.

Now, the mouse works, but it messes up the keyboard port so the throttle is not detected and PTSETUP halts.

Its pretty annoying that all the setup programs require detection to function. I don't seem to be able to attain a mode where I have both mouse and detectable Pro Throttle in DOS mode.

If there was some way to edit the profiles in a text editor or something - or some kind of shorthand to enter the SHIFT and CTRL keys, then I would be fine.

Anyone have any shortcuts?

Pendragon,

Unfortunitly you can not use a text editor to the best of my knowledge. What mouse driver are you using??. Also, because of some quirks going on trying to do the Linux project, maybe I will go back to old School Dos and try to make an easier program that doesnt even require a mouse :) But of course, #1 finish my new BootDisk that may help you out :D . If its alright with Michael, maybe I can dis-assemble the coding to figure out how to code the fighterstick and prothrottle.

That would be awsome.

Really. I actually have a decent boot cd that puts me in win98 dos.

I searched the web and found a mouse emulator - it lets you use the arrow keys as a DOS mouse.

The HOME key is the mouse button - I can move the cursor, but not select anything - that function does not work, at least not in PTSETUP.

If I had a simple PS2 mouse, that would work, but I divested all my "old junk" last year when I moved from ca to tx.

I have some other mouse emus to try still...

Pendragon,

I am using an universal non-microsoft mouse driver that has proven to work great for me and I have a wireless MS mouse with the new side-to-side scroll wheel. I will include it with my new bootdisk and as a patch program for existing users. I am doing my best to get it done but I keep getting distracted with stuff at home :( . thank god next week Im free for a change  . Hopefully the new updates will help you :)

Well, the problem was not the driver.

I could get the mouse to work.

I have the new Wireless Explorer hooked up with USB.

There really arent any USB drivers for DOS (technically there are, but a DOS USB stack can cost $1,000). So you have to set your BIOS to Legacy USB mouse or something similar.

This setting allows the motherboard to abstract the USB mouse and make it look like a PS/2 mouse to the operating system.

This mode seems to affect the keyboard port since when I had this working, DOS stopped seeing the Pro Throttle.

Ultimately, my solution was to buy a $6 PS/2 mouse at Wal-Mart and use it for 1 minute to setup some shift and control keys on my throttle.

Thansk for all the input.
