Does anyone have a profile for Janes LB2 for FS/PT/PP? I've got it working well in XP with D3D in CM mapped mode, now I just need to copy or create a profile. If anyone has one that they have tested, I would appreciate the help. :)

Now there's a blast from the past! wish I still had my copy of LB2 as IMHO it was the definitive Apache sim, if not the definitive helicopter sim. Sorry I've not got a profile for that but perhaps someone on the forums will.

Thanks. Yeah it's a blast from the past, but it's nice to break things up when F4, LOMAC, IL2, EECH, etc. start to get routine. I've been fighting with it to get it running on XP with a Radeon, so now that it's working, I need a map for CM. If no one has one I'll have to build one.

I started one but I stopped after seeing how poor LB2 looks in D3D.

So now I am playing LB2 on my old Game Port CH with Voodoo5 in a old computer. I got that computer just for LB2 and JF15. Long live Glide.

lb was my first sim and lb2 blew my mind. i had it my sophomore year of college and didn't have a pc to run it well so i would play all night at my girlfriend's (that relationship didn't last long). college then cut into my simming time and now graduated and married i have missed some of the best sims but i am now very much back into them. i just bought the ch usb set up fs/pt/pp. and have dusted off all my old sims and bought some new ones. i'm pretty rusty. lb2 is the one i really want to get going, but need a map, or help writing my own. also will need tips about getting it running on xp. would love to collaborate with some one if need be.

also never bought or played eech but wonder how it compares to lb2. spent all day yesterday looking but couldn't find a copy, guess i will have to buy online.

look forward to responses.

I loved Jane's games. I still weep about the loss of Longbow Anthology and Fighters Anthology from my gamer rig. After I made the jump to Windows 2000 (and later to XP) I had to start looking for something new to play as my Jane's titles where dead. :(

I know some of you will tell me "look at so and so's web site he has this great hack and a glide wrapper that let you play them again". I have tried and tried, it never works like they hype up to.

I have managed to snatch up a copy of EECH from the used bin at EB a while back and I have not regretted it. I am still on the look out for the Apache vs. Havoc version (guess that would be EEAH). <s> It even works on my Windows XP box and the resource "hack"s for it are simple and they just flat work.

Longbow was good but until all of the helo guys start pressing software companies to generate something above the "Comanche 4" mouse sim level I think EECH is going to be the only helo sim on my Windows XP rig.

Er the Heli sims forum is for profiles uploads and is moderated so your posts will only show up after a moderator ok's them anyway, feel free to chat away in here or if you have a suggestion for another forum we could setup then fire away. BTW Michael from CH Products has uploaded a .cmc file for Longbow 2 which will help you create a profile in no time..just wish I still had my CD's

Hey guys,
Just a thought, but I haven't got LB2 yet, I'm prolly gonna get a copy from EBAY, but I do have Jane's LB Limited Edition. I have it running on XP pro and all I done was set the MaxMem setting in Boot.ini and it runs
fine. If you would like to try this with LB2, feel free to do so and reply back to this thread so I will know if it works with LB 2 also. Oh, here are the steps:
1) Start Button..Click on RUN....type msconfig and hit enter
2)At the top right, click on BOOT.INI tab
3)At the bottom right click on ADVANCED tab and at the top will be the MaxMem setting, set it to 366 and reboot.

****NOTE****!!!!!!
This will have to be changed back if you want to run more modern games again. Just redo the steps above
and re-enter the original setting and reboot.
You will also notice after you run msconfig, you will see an option to use either the original BOOT.INI or the modified one.

There's an excellent guide to installing LB2 on modern sytems at http://www.speichts.com/games/index.html - no boot.ini tweaking is required. And all the real LB2 zealots hang out at the SimHq Longbow forum http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=134
