I wanted as near as possible a replica of the HOTAS fitted in real F16s so I bought a Cougar...Big Mistake... OOTB it is rubbish.

I soon got rid and Bought my CH setup FS,PT and PP....Good decision.....however when I started learning programming I soon realised that the mode switching facility was a no go if I wanted to emulate the real F16 HOTAS.The problem is that modes can only be switched by either FS btn 3 or PT btn 1 and I was not willing to give either of these buttons up as I needed them for NWS/MSL STEP and ENABLE respectively.

I still wanted multiple outputs from the buttons and hats so I went down the road of timer programing. Any buttons that did not allready have an associated program within FF5,eg the NWS/MSL,I added a program that would allow seperate outputs for hold and 1,2 or 3 clicks. Similarly for any hat switch not allready complicated within FF5 ,eg TMS, I added a program that would allow seperate outputs for 1 click or hold and additionally the choice of having the hold output step to emulate a rotating control similar to ones on a Cougar.
..................
Best examples of how this replicates the real F16 HOTAS are:-

Fighter stick button 4 which with a single press is "pinky" but press and hold is "AP disconnect paddle" (2 and 3 clicks available for anything you wish by taking output from cms.btns 11 and 12)

Pro throttle hat 3 is radar control with single clicks and antenna and gain emulating wheel control by holding.
......................

Many of the cms buttons associated with the controls are still spare for you to use as you will .
The posabilities are endless and all the hard work as been done in the setting up of the timeing programs. ( I think I had a lot of help from Bob on this part when I initially set it up)

Edited 18/12/09 to show completely rewritten Map with many improvements and additional JPG's to assist in understanding and to allow users to alter easily to own requirements
