I cant get the official CD software to load controller mannager. When I click on the control manager install link from the CD nothing happens. I downloaded the newest version from CH site and when I try to run it, I get a Win 16 not valid programme type error. Obviously something on my system is causing a problem. This is the error message I get when I click on the setup icon in the CHinstall folder which unzips to my C: drive root:

c:windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications. Choose "close" to terminate the application.

I have my controllers connected (Pro Pedals, Fighterstick) and I have disabled all anti virus software.

Any ideas?

I am running SP1, and I followed the advice here about this error:

http://www.forumshq.com/archive/index.php/t-4746

Now I get this error instead:

cannot find file C:\CHInstall\setup.exe(or one of its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

Okay following all the stuff above I have now succeeded in loading the CD software it still wouldn't work from autorun menu, but I used explore to get to .exe then installed from there.
The downloaded version still won't work (yes I did unzip it to the C:\CHinstall folder). Strange.

Is there much difference in the CD software (v. 5.4) and the downloaded file (CHCMv3i)?

OK..here's what I did:
On a hunch I unzipped the download into my D: root directory....guess what?
The bloody thing installed sweet as a nut :)
I guess its one of the mysteries of life why it wouldn't work from my C: root directory.

Thanks to ALL who tried to help!!
