View Full Version : Control Manager Device Recognition Problems

I've had a Pro Throttle for a couple years that I used with a Saitek stick without problems. Used the Control manager software for some basic but critical throttle functions for Warbirds - again without any problems.

I recently purchased a USB Combatstick and Pro Pedals and have encountered some serious problems...

...I can get the computer (Epox 4PDA mobo) to recognize the devices in the control panel, but when I run the Control manager I cannot download any maps, I open the maps, but the download button remains inactive. When I hit the calibrate button in CM, the program hangs, and I see that the game device control panel loses it connection with the 3 CH USB devices. I then need to reboot the machine to get it to recognize the devices again. There also seems to be some pickiness about which device goes into which USB port (mobo based ports), which I didn't have before

I DID install SP2, but then restored the machine to its pre-update state almost immediately. This SP2 upgrade was conincident with this problem, but so was my installation of new CH hardware.

I've been and still am a Mac guy, this is my first PC, so any troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What chipset is your USB host controller? What version of the Control Manager are you running? Can I see a screenshot of your Device Manager?

Michael,

I think I might have figured things out. These PC's are so friggin arcane to deal with compared to Mac's, but I'm learning.

I more or less did some cleaning up, using CH Delete for example, figured out some buttons on the CH Manager, and now am good to go...for now.

Now I just need to get my TrackIR working with WB2004 again.

Doh.

Thanks for the help.

Do you still have those "unknown devices" in the CH catagory in the Device Manager?

Michael,

No, that's cleared up. I think that things are squared away for now. There was lot's of wierdness to deal with, but the real problem were time constraints to get the new setup working in time for a Warbirds competition that began last night.

My biggest problem now is the switch from twisty stick to rudder pedals.

Michael, you may want to pass on to your packaging people that there's an error on the Combatstick box with the warranty logo - there's a number "1" in the center of the 2-year Warranty logo.

Thanks for the great support and product.
