View Full Version : Have to re-install after each cold comp. startup..

Everytime I shut down my computer for the night the next day when I turn it back on, my computer has to re-install my Fighterstick USB, Pro Throttle, and Pedals.

It is the same as when I first installed everything :o

I keep getting asked for the CD that came with the hardware so I can install the HID Controller, Stick, Throttle, etc...

Is it because I had all the devices set as one device (combined) when I shut-down? Do I need to reset to the default control scheme when I am ready to shut-down so my computer isn't reading 3 different devices at startup?

Thanks to anybody who can help me out!

:)

This is only happen a few times. The devices are seen as themselves when you start back up and it does not matter what you had them mapped to when you shut down.

Windows is just installing every permutation of them. This one first that one first, etc.

Once Windows has seen it all it stops.

I still have to use the CD though to re-install the drivers though.

All of the equipment is recognized mind you (no errors at all), it is just once I shut down with my CH equipment "combined" via the mapper upon start-up I have to use the CD re-install all the drivers. The install screens don't just disappear....I must use the CD.

Any ideas?

When Windows asks for the CD, don't you also have the option of having Windows search your hard drives instead? So rather than satisfying its lust for your installation CD, just have Windows search your comp for the drivers. It should find them from the earlier installations and load them then. After that, Windows may finally get the message and stop asking for your CD...hopefully.

Good luck.

To be honest it may ask for the CD but I give you my word it's not finding the drivers on it.

We don't have any drivers for our USB controllers on the CD. All we use are the Windows HID drivers and if you are running Windows 2K/XP they are already on the hard drive. In fact the drivers for your CH USB controllers were put on the hard drive by Windows during the Windows install.

Windows is just unsure of itself so it always asks for the "manufacturers CD" just to cover itself.

Oh ok.

It figures that I would forget something as simple as that and still be MS Certified. LOL
